VCU's Department of Graphic Design will host Nat Pyper for a talk as part of its Objects + Methods Lecture Series in the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., followed by a public workshop at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. Pyper is an alphabet artist whose practice of fonts, wearables, video and performance extends from ongoing research on queer publishing histories. Doors open at noon for the lecture. Embarking on a fitness journey can feel a bit overwhelming, but RecWell’s nationally accredited personal trainers are ready to make that first step exciting and achievable. Learn about the equipment available at the Cary Street Gym fitness center, 101 S. Linden St., and how RecWell members work with trainers to develop programs that help them reach their fitness goals. Research Study on Stress Experiences in Young Black Women Ages 18-39
The Equity in Cardiovascular Health Outcomes (EqCHO) Lab at VCU is conducting a study on the stress experiences of young Black women. We would like to use the information gained from this study to develop a stress reduction program to improve cardiovascular health among young African American women. Resources will be provided on stress and health management. The study will take place over two consecutive weeks. Compensation is available. Researchers at Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center are testing a new program to help improve health and well-being among emerging adults age 18-29 with a history of cancer. The program is designed specifically for emerging adult cancer survivors who are interested in making healthy lifestyle changes (e.g., healthy eating, physical activity, sleep, stress, mood) to decrease chronic inflammation.
