Learn about RISE, a three-month research internship in Germany and SMART, a Department of Defense scholarship that provides funding for tuition and educational fees. The Department of Defense National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship is a fellowship awarded annually to U.S. citizens pursuing doctoral degrees in science and engineering disciplines. Book Talk: 'The Pregnancy Police'

VCU's Department of Political Science welcomes alumna Grace Howard. Howard is a faculty member at San Jose State, where she studies women, the law and abortion policy. She has just published a book titled "The Pregnancy Police." The book is an investigation of the legal arguments undergirding these prosecutions and sheds light on the networks of health-care providers, social workers and legal personnel participating in this ongoing surveillance and punishment of pregnant people. The talk will be in the Academic Learning Commons (MCALC), Room 1107, 1000 Floyd Ave.

Visiting Artist Lecture by Grace Whiteside

VCU's Department of Craft/Material Studies will present a visiting artist lecture by alumnus Grace Whiteside (BFA '17) in the Murry N. DePillars Building, second-floor critique room 238, 1000 W. Broad St. Whiteside is an interdisciplinary artist who works between glass, performance and video art. Whiteside sifts through experimental theater works and animated sculptures, highlighting the ambiguity of glass’s queer molecular structure that fluctuates between solid and liquid states.
