VCU Police, RPD To Conduct Active Shooter Training Exercise on Monroe Park Campus
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
VCU and Richmond Police will hold an active shooter training exercise in the 900 block of West Franklin Street. The drill will involve the sound of simulated gunfire, SWAT team personnel and drones. Starting at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, the 900 block of West Franklin Street and the parking lot between 900 and 910 West Franklin Street will be closed. Sidewalks and buildings will remain open, with the exception of the sidewalk in front of the Office of the President.

That (Difficult) Patient Is Me: Health Care Professionals In Recovery From Addiction

Rams in Recovery's speaker series will host Peter Coleman, M.D., founder of the Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine, who has dedicated his career to treating addiction patients. Beyond his medical experience, he understands firsthand the struggle with overcoming substance use disorder and healing the mind, body and spirit. RecWell Aquatics Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Private and semi-private swimming lessons are available to VCU students and RecWell members ages 2 and older. RecWell’s water safety instructors work with participants to create tailored, individual lesson plans that allow time to focus on specific skills. Classes are taught at the Aquatic Center, 121 S. Linden St., and can be scheduled any time the pool is open. Packages may be split into 30-, 45- or 60-minute sessions. Register at the following URL.

RecWell Winter Break Facility Hours

RecWell Small Group Training: Weightlifting 101
RecWell’s Weightlifting 101 is a beginner-friendly class for individuals looking to build strength and confidence in the gym. Experienced and welcoming instructors will teach the fundamentals of weightlifting, including proper form, technique and safety measures to ensure a fun and injury-free workout. RecWell Personal Training Packages
RecWell’s spring 2025 personal training packages are available to VCU students and RecWell members. Participants will be guided through an exercise program customized to meet their specific needs and goals by a certified personal trainer, a fitness professional committed to supporting client progress. RecWell offers one-on-one and buddy training packages of three- six- 12-, or 18-hour-long sessions. All new clients are required to complete the introductory package of three 60-minute sessions.

Risk-Taking in Eating Disorders Study
The Translational Research on Eating and Affect (TREAT) Lab is recruiting adolescents and young adults assigned female at birth (aged 12-25) for a brain imaging study to understand how risky decision-making differs between individuals with bulimia nervosa and individuals without a psychological disorder.
