VCU and Richmond Police Departments To Conduct Active Shooter Training Exercise On Monroe Park Campus Today, March 12
VCU Police and Richmond Police will hold an active shooter training exercise today, March 12, that will impact a portion of the Monroe Park Campus. The exercise runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the 900 block of West Franklin Street and will involve the sound of simulated gunfire, actors in realistic makeup that mimics significant injuries, SWAT team personnel and law enforcement drones. Community members can expect to see law enforcement and emergency personnel from multiple jurisdictions. Starting at 6 a.m. today, March 12, the 900 block of West Franklin Street and the parking lot between 900 and 910 West Franklin Street will be closed to the public. Sidewalks and buildings along this corridor will remain open, with the exception of the sidewalk in front of the Office of the President. VCU Alert subscribers will receive messages at the beginning and end of the exercise. Please plan accordingly.

The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is open for VCU students and RecWell members looking to learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Call for Proposals: Global Impact Awards
VCU's Global Education Office seeks proposals for the 2025-26 Global Impact Awards. Two awards, the Global Learning Program Development Awards and the Global Partnership Impact Awards, will fund proposals from VCU academic units to develop partnership collaborations with institutions abroad or new global learning programs. For each CFP, there will be five awards of up to $5,000. Does Your Child Have Heel Pain, or Are They Currently Healthy? Opportunity to Participate in Research Study
This study seeks children and adolescents (ages 6-17) with current heel pain (Sever’s disease) or who are currently healthy without musculoskeletal injuries for participation. The purpose of this research study is to assess muscles, tendons and skeletal development of young patients with and without heel pain. This study will require one 45-minute study visit at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (parking validated) and will include: an electronic questionnaire about health and sport participation; foot, ankle and calf ultrasound imaging assessment snd ankle x-ray assessment (heel pain participants only).
