VCU and Richmond Police Departments To Conduct Active Shooter Training Exercise On Monroe Park Campus Today, March 12

VCU Police and Richmond Police will hold an active shooter training exercise today, March 12, that will impact a portion of the Monroe Park Campus. The exercise runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the 900 block of West Franklin Street and will involve the sound of simulated gunfire, actors in realistic makeup that mimics significant injuries, SWAT team personnel and law enforcement drones. Community members can expect to see law enforcement and emergency personnel from multiple jurisdictions. Starting at 6 a.m. today, March 12, the 900 block of West Franklin Street and the parking lot between 900 and 910 West Franklin Street will be closed to the public. Sidewalks and buildings along this corridor will remain open, with the exception of the sidewalk in front of the Office of the President. VCU Alert subscribers will receive messages at the beginning and end of the exercise. Please plan accordingly.

Spring Midterm Grades Are Now Available

Students are encouraged to go to eServices to see if their professors have submitted a Midterm grade for one or more classes. Log on to Student eServices at http://www.eservices.vcu.edu. If you have received a Midterm grade indicating unsatisfactory academic progress, see your instructor or academic adviser. The last day to withdraw from classes or opt into Pass/Fail in the full semester is Friday, March 28.

RecWell American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Course

The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is open for VCU students and RecWell members looking to learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants will earn a certificate that satisfies OSHA requirements for workplace First Aid/CPR/AED training in non-health care settings.
