VCU's Department of Painting and Printmaking will present a lecture by visiting artist Francheska Alcántara (MFA ’19) in Oliver Hall, Physical Science Wing, Room 1024, 1015 W. Main St. Alcántara's work lays at the intersection of gesture, ritual and myth within the Black diasporic imagination. Alcántara reworks, repurposes and transforms artifacts such as brown paper bags, Hispano cuaba soap, dominoes and organic residues through sewing, folding, cutting, burning and layering.

Audible Animation: An Audio Description Online Workshop
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Perhaps you have wondered before: for people who can’t see, would they also watch film and animations? The answer is yes, and the means is audio description. It’s an accessibility service for visually impaired audiences to “listen to” whatever is on the screen. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to be trained by the pioneer of audio description — Joel Snyder, to learn the principle of audio description and get hands-on experience on describing films and animation. Participants will also have a chance to be a describer for the upcoming public experimental animation screening, and get paid by doing that. VCU RecWell Intramural Sports runs leagues and tournaments for all experience levels. No prior experience or skill with the sport needed. Real-World Adolescent Eating Patterns (REAL) Study
The Healthy Lifestyles Center is recruiting for the REAL study, a research study that uses a mobile app to learn more about what happens during adolescent mealtimes such as when and where teens eat, who they eat with and what they do while eating. Adolescents aged 12-16 who have a smartphone are eligible. Participants will be compensated for their time and effort.

Postmenopausal Females Are Invited For Study the Impact of Exercise on Cardiovascular Health
