The Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health will host a virtual presentation by VCU's Shunlin Ren, M.D., Ph.D., on "Endogenous Epigenetic Regulators for Treating Chronic and Acute Liver Diseases." Ren’s research has focused on the therapeutic roles of endogenous epigenetic regulators in chronic and acute liver diseases. He holds 75 national and international patents related to the treatment of liver diseases and has published over 60 peer-reviewed research papers in this field. Notably, Ren discovered larsucosterol (25-hydroxycholesterol 3-sulfate, 25HC3S), a promising biomedicine that recently completed Phase IIb clinical trials for treating alcoholic hepatitis (AH).
