Just Write: Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) and ORCID Researcher IDs

Join Nina Exner, research data librarian, and Sam Byrd, scholarly publishing librarian, to build your scholarly visibility with Scholars Compass and ORCID. (ORCID is a unique, persistent identifier for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship and innovation activities.) In this two-for-one session, you’ll learn about the ETD process and then how to link your ETD to your ORCID researcher ID profile. We’ll start with a walkthrough of the online publishing process for depositing your electronic thesis or dissertation (ETD) on Scholar’s Compass. You’ll get a look at the interface, preview the steps you’ll take to submit your ETD and have a chance to ask your questions. Then you’ll learn how to create an online profile with ORCID, the digital Open Researcher and Contributor ID. The ORCID profile acts as an online vita to help your ETD and other research products be more visible. RecWell OAP Student Outdoor Leadership Experience Summer Informational Session
RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program will offer Student Outdoor Leadership Experiences. SOLE is an intensive training program that forms the foundation of OAP trips. It focuses on skill development, personal growth and leadership for future OAP student leaders. Using the outdoors as a classroom, participants also connect with nature and learn to provide similar experiences on OAP trips. An informational session will be at the Outing Rental Center, 130 S. RecWell OAP Summer Norwegian Adventure Sampler Multiday Trip
RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program will host a week of travel through Norway. Experience glacier peaks and valleys, canyoneer down waterfalls and sea kayak through a fjord. Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. This study is inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as LGBTQ. We are also inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as cis-gender heterosexual for the control group. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of chronic psychosocial stress and vascular inflammation to an acute mental challenge. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
