Aquatics Adult Beginner Swim Lessons Summer Session 2

RecWell offers adult beginner swim lessons intended for older teens and adults who are comfortable in th water but wish to learn basic skills such as floating, treading water and coordination for swimming strokes. Lessons will primarily be taught in shallow water, but participants will practice supporting themselves in deeper water throughout the class. Session 2 runs July 8-31, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Classes will be at the VCU Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St. Register May 1-July 4 at the following URL.

Participants Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health

Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Participants Invited for a Study Examining Psychosocial Stress and Cardiovascular Health in Sexual and Gender Minority Adults

This study is inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as LGBTQ. We are also inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as cis-gender heterosexual for the control group. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of chronic psychosocial stress and vascular inflammation to an acute mental challenge. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Participants Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Exercise on Cardiovascular Health

This study is inviting individuals between the ages of 20 and 24 with poor sleep quality. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of aerobic and resistance exercise on cardiovascular responses and vascular inflammation. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences. Participants Invited for MRI Brain Imaging Study to Better Undetstand Those With and Without POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

Females aged 12-21 are invited to participate in a research study exploring POTS, Post-Infection and healthy control study. Researchers want to better understand how brain and body react with and without POTS. Includes 1-2 year commitment. VCU/VCUHS campus. Compensation provided.
