Sign Up for the VCU Family Cultural Exchange Program

Registration is open for the 2025-26 VCU Family Cultural Exchange Program. The program provides Richmond community members and international students and scholars the opportunity to develop cross-cultural relationships that stimulate curiosity, increase cultural understanding and provide insight into a world beyond personal perspectives. RecWell American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Course - July/August

The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is open for VCU students and RecWell members looking to learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants will earn a certificate that satisfies OSHA requirements for workplace First Aid/CPR/AED training in non-healthcare settings. Classes will be held July 9, 19, 23 and Aug. 2. Participants Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health

Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Participants Invited for a Study Examining Psychosocial Stress and Cardiovascular Health in Sexual and Gender Minority Adults

This study is inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as LGBTQ. We are also inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as cis-gender heterosexual for the control group. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of chronic psychosocial stress and vascular inflammation to an acute mental challenge. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Risk-Taking in Eating Disorders Study

The Translational Research on Eating and Affect Lab is recruiting adolescents and young adults assigned female at birth (aged 12-25) for a brain imaging study to understand risky decision-making in individuals who have concerns about their body shape/weight, overeat, purge, use laxatives, diet severely or exercise excessively. The project will also include an investigation of these processes in individuals without a psychological disorder. Participants will be compensated. A One-Time Interview To Understand the Experiences or Lack of Experience With Resistance Exercise and Mobile Apps in Young Black Women

Black women ages 18-35 are invited to share their experiences or lack of experience with resistance exercise (e.g., lifting weights, resistance bands, body weight exercises) along with their desired features of a mobile app aimed to help guide and track their exercise regimens. Participants Invited for MRI Brain Imaging Study to Better Undetstand Those With and Without POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

Females aged 12-21 are invited to participate in a research study exploring POTS, Post-Infection and healthy control study. Researchers want to better understand how brain and body react with and without POTS. Includes 1-2 year commitment. VCU/VCUHS campus. Compensation provided.
