VIRBs (VCU IRB System) Research Community Open Lab
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In preparation for implementation of the new IRB system (VIRBs), the Human Research Protections Program (HRPP)/IRB will hold a VIRBs open lab for the research community. The labs will include VIRBs real-time practice and Q&A sessions. Several lab sessions will be held through July and August. A complete schedule has been posted on the New IRB Review System: VIRBs (VCU IRB System) webpage. Registration is not required. Labs will occur in real time. Recordings will not take place during the sessions. A Zoom meeting link will be opened at each date and time specified on the labs schedule. Muslim American Heritage Celebration
Saturday, Jul. 26, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center will host the second annual American Muslim Heritage Celebration at 601 W. Broad St. This event celebrates Muslim American Heritage Month with cultural tables, traditional dress and interactive displays representing Muslim communities from around the world. All are welcome.

Heat Safety Guidance From VCU Employee Health
July is Heat Awareness Month. Those who work outdoors should drink two to four glasses of water each hour and take frequent breaks. Eat multiple small meals with a focus on fruit, especially bananas and oranges. They help regulate potassium, magnesium and sodium while replacing electrolytes that are being lost. Risk-Taking in Eating Disorders Study
The Translational Research on Eating and Affect (TREAT) Lab is recruiting adolescents and young adults assigned female at birth (aged 12 to 25 years) for a brain imaging study to understand risky decision-making in individuals who have concerns about their body shape/weight, or overeat, purge, use laxatives, diet severely, or exercise excessively. We are also investigating these processes in individuals without a psychological disorder. There will be compensation for participation. A One-Time Interview to Understand the Experiences or Lack of Experience With Resistance Exercise and Mobile Apps in Young Black Women
Black women ages 18-35 who have little to no experience with resistance exercise (e.g., lifting weights, resistance bands, body weight exercises) are invited to share these experiences along with their desired features of a mobile app aimed to help guide and track their exercise regimens. Women will be invited to complete a one-time interview plus two surveys at a local library of their choice. Compensation is available. Check your eligibility using the following URL.
