Hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Workshop for Families With Young Children
Saturday, Jul. 26, 2025 at 1 p.m.
Calling all families with little explorers (ages 8 and under) — join VCU's School of Education for playful STEAM learning. Dive into a free hands-on, interactive workshop exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). At the workshop, families and children will experience interactive STEAM stations, lively discussions on fun themes and take home a free 'Building Our Self-STEAM' storybook (while supplies last) plus an e-book. Through hands-on activities and storytelling, children will learn how simple daily routines — like washing dishes, building with blocks or planting strawberries — can become opportunities for shared discovery and problem-solving at home. The program is funded by VCU's Office for Community Engagement. Hosted by VCU's School of Education and Project STEAM researchers, the event uses storytelling, creativity and teamwork to spark curiosity in young minds. Families with children are welcome. No registration is required. The program will be at Richmond's Main Library, 101 E. Franklin St.
