The Hub Club by VCU Health Hub at 25th
Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The event, hosted by Ivy Bell, VCU Health Hub’s certified community health worker, will be at 1330 N. 25th St., Suite A. The Hub Club is a wellness group which offers participants the opportunity to share stories, listen to music, practice mindfulness and build connections. Hub Club is held every second and fourth Tuesday.

Residential Life and Housing Move-In Weekend
Friday, Aug. 15, 2025 at 9 a.m.
VCU Residential Life and Housing will hold its annual move-in weekend on Friday, Aug. 15 and Saturday, Aug. 16. Faculty, staff and students are needed to help unload vehicles, manage and push move-in carts and welcome the Class of 2029. The Student Organization Competition will return; the group with the greatest number of volunteers in each category will receive additional funds for their respective organization. New Fall '25 Online Classes: 'Black and Indigenous Ecologies' and 'Black Embodiment and Spatial Design'
Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 at 8 a.m.
Interior Design @ VCUarts is offering two interdisciplinary online classes in the arts to all majors this fall. IDES 391-003: Black Embodiment and Spatial Design examines how space enables possibilities of healing for Black embodiment through the works of Resmaa Menakem, Nap Bishop, Tricia Hershey, artist Theaster Gates, architect Craig Wilkin and others. IDES 391-004: Black and Indigenous Ecologies examines how we can create decolonial and community-oriented methods for architecture, urban design and art creation. Both classes are three credits and online synchronous; class spots are available.

Canvas Training for Students
Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
VCU Academic Technologies will host three live, online 30-minute overviews of Canvas via Zoom for students during Weeks of Welcome. Students will learn how to log in and navigate Canvas to complete class assignments, projects and more. Sessions will be on Wednesdays, Aug. 20, Aug. 27 and Sept. 3. Free Store Reopening; Volunteers Needed
The VCU Free Store, 930 W. Grace St., will reopen to VCU students, staff and faculty on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during August. Hours are Tuesdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Wednesdays, noon-6 p.m. Also, VCU Sustainability is recruiting volunteers Tuesday, Aug. 12 and Wednesday, Aug. 13 to support the reopening of the store. Launch Your Career From College With the Global Career Accelerator
The Global Career Accelerator is a three-credit, online course offered by University College designed to help students build real-world experience, explore different careers and graduate with a portfolio that will actually get you noticed. In a single semester, participants will work on projects co-designed with Intel, OpenAI, L’Oréal and The GRAMMYs; explore in-demand skills such as digital marketing, coding, data analysis and web design; collaborate in live Zoom sessions with students from across the U.S. and around the world; build a résumé-ready portfolio and earn up to four digital certifications and receive support from a dedicated success coach and VCU faculty. RecWell Small Group Training: Weights of Wellness Session 1
Start achieving your fitness goals through knowledge and strength. A certified personal trainer will teach the foundational methods of resistance training and workout design. Participants start with basic movements in the FitZone at Cary Street Gym to build confidence and progress to the rest of the fitness floor for more advanced exercise. Each week, learn about new equipment and exercises to increase confidence in the weight room. Use strength machines, resistance bands, cable stacks and free weights to build skill and knowledge of proper technique and progressions.
