Research Roundtables: A Collaboration Including School of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs, Faculty Development and SOM Research
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Research Roundtables provides an opportunity for new faculty, faculty new to research and faculty with questions about research at VCU to have direct, individualized contact with research support units from across the university. Representatives from OVPRI, IRB, IACUC, Tech transfer, the Wright Center, SOM research support and more will be present in Room 8-200A, James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Medical Education Center (MMEC), 1201 E. Marshall St., for faculty to engage with and ask questions about the research process at VCU. This is the first event in over five years at which these units will have representatives in the same place, at the same time, ready to work with VCU faculty. Faculty members are encouraged to attend for the time that they are able. It will be an open event where you can walk in, visit the units that you want to learn from and move throughout the space as best fits your needs. Attendance for the entire two hours is not required. Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health Research Seminar

Robert Schwabe, M.D., a professor of medicine and director of the Digestive and Liver Disease Research Center at Columbia University, will present on "Hepatic Stellate Cells in Health and Disease.” His research focuses on the mechanisms that promote the progression of chronic liver disease, focusing on the development of liver injury, steatosis, inflammation and fibrosis in earlier stages and the role of fibrosis in the development of liver cancer in later stages. Wright Center Mock Study Section

It is a VCU-exclusive NCFDD (National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity) writing sprint, offering faculty an opportunity to take time each day to re-set and experiment with their writing habits. Call for Applications: Announcing ConnectED Awards
ConnectED announces two new opportunities to recognize excellence in teaching and assignment design within the General Education program. The ConnectED Assignment Alignment Award honors faculty who design outstanding assignments aligned with one or more ConnectED program goals and outcomes. Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center at VCU invites applications for a full-time, National Cancer Institute–funded T32 pre- and postdoctoral research fellowship in the Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program. Positions are available for immediate start. The CPC T32 training program prepares fellows from diverse biomedical, clinical and public health backgrounds for successful careers as independent researchers in cancer prevention and control. Consistent with NIH T32 training goals, the program emphasizes rigorous, multidisciplinary research, community engagement, social and policy determinants of cancer and development across the cancer continuum. Fashion in France – Applications Close Feb. 15 for Mediterranean Textiles in Aix en Provence, Summer 2026
Study with VCU Fashion in France, Summer 2026. All majors are welcome. VCUarts Fashion will host a study abroad program in southern France for those interested in fashion, sustainability, women's studies, surface design, textiles, ancient history, modern-day business innovation and/or French language or culture The dates for Mediterranean Textiles in Aix en Provence, France (FASH 391, three credits) are May 30-June 20. Class will be held M-Th 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at American College of the Mediterranean. Site visits include an indigo dyeing workshop at Atelier Simone, a block printing workshop at Musée Souleiado and excursions to Nimes and Arles. With the exception of days with site visits, students can explore Aix and its surrounding towns during their afternoons and weekends.
