Each month the Health Hub will have a different health focus that you will have the ability to ask professionals about. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Nearly all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infection and the HPV vaccine prevents the types of HPV that cause most cervical cancers, preventing cancer before it starts. The Health Hub is located at 1330 N. 25th St., Suite A.

Facts and Faith Fridays – Protecting Our Health Together: HPV and Cervical Cancer

VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center will present a session exploring the connection between HPV and cervical cancer and how prevention can save lives. The discussion will include current recommendations, common misconceptions and practical steps every person can take. This conversation-centered session is designed to build knowledge, reduce stigma and support healthier communities. RecWell Lifeguarding Instructor Certification
Learn to plan, prepare and teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. Lifeguarding Instructors play a critical role in ensuring the safety of aquatic facilities by providing thorough, consistent training to lifeguard staff. Candidates must hold a current Red Cross Lifeguarding (including deep water) certificate. The course will be held March 16-27. Email a copy of your certificate to aquatics@vcu.edu for verification.

Nominate a Working Learner for VCU’s 2026 Student Employee of the Year
VCU Work+ and the Student Employment Action Team and Advisory Group are accepting nominations for VCU’s 2026 Student Employee of the Year Award, recognizing some of the 3,000-plus student staff. Submissions will be accepted at the following URL until Friday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. Nominators can be staff, faculty or student coworkers. All student employees nominated will receive a digital certificate of recognition. The top nominees will be submitted at the national level with the chance to win up to $600, and the overall winner will be announced during National Student Employment Week, April 13-17.

Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Exercise on Cardiovascular Health
This research study is inviting individuals between the ages of 20 and 24 with poor sleep quality. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of aerobic and resistance exercise on cardiovascular responses and vascular inflammation. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
