Participants Sought for Fine Motor Writing and Drawing Study
9 a.m.
This research is being done to investigate how you learn new movements with your non-dominant hand. You will be asked to complete a tracing game on a touchscreen tablet while wearing an electrode cap. You must be right-handed, male and between the ages of 18 and 40 to participate. $20 compensation is available for your participation. The study takes about one hour. The study will take place in the research laboratory location in the VCU College of Health Professions building, 900 E. Leigh St.

Come to the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., for an evening showcasing the people and stories across VCU’s LGBTQ+ history. This event will feature students, faculty members, staff, alumni, donors and community members sharing their experiences around the theme Celebrating Queer Voices. This event is part of a yearlong celebration of the Gay Alliance of Students. The organization’s victory in October 1976 paved the way for LGBTQ+ student organizations in Virginia and five other states.

Suicide Prevention Walk

The Out of the Darkness Campus Walks are a signature event sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The walks are designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide, the third leading cause of death among people ages 15-24. This year, VCU is hosting its third annual Campus Walk in Park Plaza. Community members are encouraged to register online for the walk, donate, start a team or volunteer the day of the walk.

2026 Health Sciences Education Symposium

Serve as a Judge for the 2026 Metro Richmond Science and Engineering Fair
The 2026 Metro Richmond Science and Engineering Fair, hosted by the Center for Innovation in STEM Education, will be held Saturday, March 21 in the STEM building, 817 W. Franklin St. Judges are sought for the fair and will evaluate specific categories, either for middle school or high school projects. Judges will interview student researchers and ask questions about their project (evaluation guides will be provided). There are 17 categories and at least two judges are needed for each project. An Exercise App for Young Black Women: Tell Me, What Would You Want?
Black women ages 18-35 who have no experience with resistance exercise (e.g., lifting weights, resistance bands, body weight exercises) are invited to share their perspectives about resistance exercise and their desired features of a mobile app aimed to help guide and track their exercise regimens. Concussion Research Study
Recruiting adolescents between the ages of 13 and 19 years old who have 1) never had a diagnosed concussion OR 2) sustained a concussion within the last 14 days. This noninvasive study is investigating the acoustic startle reflex and acoustic startle potentiation in relationship to subsequent injury following concussion.
