Franklin St. on Thursdays this summer beginning June 4 to ride to Belmont Community Resource Services, 3510 Broad Rock Blvd., to work in their food pantry. The pantry is outdoors so dress accordingly. Participants must be available until 1 p.m. because it is a 20-minute drive from VCU. Volunteer to drive students or Pace will provide a Lyft ride. This work includes the installation of concrete utility vaults using a crane, weather and field conditions permitting. Fence panels along West Grace Street will be extended approximately three feet into the sidewalk. ADA-accessible pedestrian access will be maintained, but the usable width of the sidewalk will be reduced. Two temporary closures of the single eastbound lane on West Grace Street are expected. Each closure will last approximately 10 to 15 minutes and is anticipated to occur around 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Flaggers will be stationed at the intersections of Pine and West Grace and Laurel and West Grace to direct traffic during these closures. VCU Generative AI Sentiment and Skills Survey

VCU’s Technology Services and Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence are conducting a survey to better understand sentiments and skills surrounding the use of Generative AI tools. This survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open to all VCU faculty, staff and students who are 18 years of age or older. Concussion Research Study

Recruiting adolescents between the ages of 13 and 19 years old who have 1) never had a diagnosed concussion OR 2) sustained a concussion within the last 14 days. This non-invasive study is investigating the acoustic startle reflex and acoustic startle potentiation in relationship to subsequent injury following concussion. Research Study: Understanding the Best Strategy for Estrogen Administration To Optimize Bone Health in Young Women With Functional Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

VCU and UVA seek females ages 14–30 for a research study. If you are low weight, lost significant weight or exercise heavily and have missed or irregular periods (FHA), you may qualify. FHA can harm bone health due to low estrogen. This study tests estrogen and progesterone to improve bone health. Includes four visits over 14 months (exams, questionnaires, nutrition/exercise review, bone scans) at no cost. Up to $925 compensation plus travel support. Contact: misralab@uvahealth.org

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining the Impact of Cold Water Immersion on Symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have GAD or symptoms of GAD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of cold water immersion on GAD symptoms with specific focus on blood vessel function. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principle Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
