'First-Gen Fridays'
3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Strategic Enrollment Management presents "First-Gen Fridays" in West Grace Street Student Housing-South, Room 1004a, for students, faculty and staff who will be or were the first in their family to graduate from college. This month's topic is "Mindfulness and Artfulness" in preparation for final exams. "First-Gen Fridays" is for first-generation college students to meet one another and to meet faculty and staff who are also first-gen. Participants can meet each month to network and learn about resources designed for student success.

Chili’s at VCU: Official Men’s Basketball Away Game Watch Party
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at 8 p.m.
Chili's at VCU hosts the official Men's Basketball away game watch party on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 8 p.m. versus Old Dominion University. Fans can catch the HAVOC on each of Chilis' nine TVs and take advantage of specials like the $5 game-day burger. Attendees are encouraged to wear VCU gear for free giveaways and prizes. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research presents its "Discovery Dialogues" seminar, "New Discoveries in Prehospital Stroke Care: Thinking Inside the Box," featuring Sherita Chapman-Smith, M.D., assistant professor, Neurology, in Main Hospital, Learning Center, First Floor. Faculty, staff, students, patients and families are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

13th Annual VCU Women's Health Research Day
Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The VCU Institute of Women's Health holds its annual Women's Health Research Day at the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building. Women’s Health Research Day is a celebration and promotion of research activities in Women's Health at VCU. The program includes a plenary symposium, poster awards and reception highlighting women’s health research by VCU faculty and students. Awards will be given for best posters in basic, clinical and translational, and community and public health research, the Elizabeth Fries Young Investigator Award for best overall poster by a junior investigator, and a Building Interdisciplinary Bridges in Women’s Health Research Award to the poster that best demonstrates interdisciplinary collaboration in women’s health research. All faculty, residents, students, staff and community members interested in women's health research are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Onsite registration will be available from 1-1:30 p.m. on the day of the event in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building.

VCU Globe: Accepts Applications
VCU Globe accepts applications for the 2017-18 academic year. Rising VCU sophomores from all over the world will live in the West Grace Student Housing-North and participate in a 12-credit specialized curriculum that leads to a certificate in global education. Students: Submit Art Projects to Cabell Big Screen Student Showcase

Put in Interlibrary Loan and Document Services Requests Now Before Dec. 23 to Jan. 2 Closing
VCU Libraries' Interlibrary Loan and Delivery Services will not run during the VCU winter closing from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2, 2017. Requests should be submitted now. The time required to obtain materials from other institutions increases greatly during December and January due to breaks, holiday delays and increased end-of-semester workloads.
