Third Thursday Theology hosts Omar Abubaker, D.M.D., Ph.D., Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in the Samuel Putney House Boardroom, as he tells the story about the loss of his son and how he was able to look at addiction with a new perspective through an educational program at VCU. VCU Globe accepts applications for the Faculty Fellows program. Applications from faculty in a wide variety of academic disciplines are encouraged. Eligible applicants hold full-time appointments in their disciplines, work as adjunct faculty at VCU or represent a Richmond-area community partner. Fellows teach an upper-level 3-credit seminar/elective course to VCU Globe students. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 20.

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education holds cultural competency and language classes for VCU and VCU Health employees and family members for one academic credit, beginning the week of Jan. 23, (days and times vary) through early May. Introduction to Conversational Spanish I, Medical Spanish, Intermediate German I and Intermediate Italian II are available. Tuition waivers or education assistance may be used by those who qualify.
