The Monroe Park Campus and MCV Campus Student Government Associations (SGAs) hold a forum on the proposed merger of the two campuses SGAs in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. The two SGAs have proposed having one student government to oversee VCU's two Richmond campuses. The forum will consist of overview of the merger and a question-and-answer period. The VCU Institute of Women's Health holds its annual Women's Health Research Day at the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building. Women’s Health Research Day is a celebration and promotion of research activities in Women's Health at VCU. The program includes a plenary symposium, poster awards and reception highlighting women’s health research by VCU faculty and students. Awards will be given for best posters in basic, clinical and translational, and community and public health research, the Elizabeth Fries Young Investigator Award for best overall poster by a junior investigator, and a Building Interdisciplinary Bridges in Women’s Health Research Award to the poster that best demonstrates interdisciplinary collaboration in women’s health research. All faculty, residents, students, staff and community members interested in women's health research are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Onsite registration will be available from 1-1:30 p.m. on the day of the event in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building.

The Division of Student Affairs announces that registration for the Disney Institute's renowned professional development course, "Disney's Approach to Quality Service," is open. VCU Rec Sports offers new female/male only swims. Every other Friday, beginning Jan. 20, the MCV Campus Aquatic Center will feature a female only swim time from 7-9 p.m. There will be female lifeguards on duty for the female-only swims and blinds on the pool deck for ultimate privacy. Male-only swim time will be held on alternating Fridays, beginning on Jan. 27, with male lifeguards on hand.

The C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research offers a new course, "Team Science" CCTR 640, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Teamwork is difficult and it is pervasive. Whether engaging in collaborative research or collaborating with others within a chosen profession, participants will better understand how to be more effective at being team members as well as leading a team. The course is designed as an introduction to research in the social sciences and to help build skills in critical-thinking.
