Third Thursday Theology hosts Omar Abubaker, D.M.D., Ph.D., Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in the Baxter Perkinson Dental Building, Room 3121, as he tells the story about the loss of his son and how he was able to look at addiction with a new perspective through an educational program at VCU. MLK Week: Homelessness in Richmond: A Community Conversation
4 p.m.
The Division of Community Engagement hosts a forum to discuss homelessness in Richmond in West Grace Street Student Housing-South, Room 1004A. Speakers will include Sarah K. Price, Ph.D., associate professor, School of Social Work, and Susan Sekerke, advancement coordinator, The Daily Planet. Anyone interested in addressing homelessness is encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
GRTC Needs Feedback on Richmond Transit Network Plan
6 p.m.
VCU ASPiRE and its partners RVA Rapid Transit invite the VCU community to the VCU Sports Medicine Center, 1300 W. Broad St., to provide feedback to the city and GRTC on the Richmond Transit Network Plan. This plan is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rework the city's bus lines to operate more efficiently and integrate seamlessly with the impending Bus Rap Transit line down Broad St.

'Towards Collaboration in Human-Robot Interaction'

The School of Engineering's Department of Computer Science welcomes Alan C. Schultz as he presents "Towards Collaboration in Human-Robot Interaction" in the School of Engineering West Hall, Room 105. Schultz is director of the Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington D.C., in addition to being selected as the first director of the NRL's Laboratory for Autonomous Systems Research.

OCSS Moving On, Moving Off: Rental Education Workshops
Off-Campus Student Services holds workshops from noon to 1 p.m. in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room, throughout the semester for first-time renters. The sessions will walk participants step-by-step through the process of finding and then renting a first apartment. Participants will learn about deposits, leases, budgets and tenant/landlord rights. Sessions will be held on Jan. 19, 23, 25 and 31; Feb. 2, 6, 14, 16, 20 and 22; March 14, 16, 21 and 23; April 3 and 5.

Town Hall Style Google Open Forum
Collaboration Services holds an open forum on Google sponsored by Application Services on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at noon in Sanger Hall, Room B1-020, and on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at noon in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room. Audience participation is strongly encouraged, so attendees should bring questions and share experiences with the group. All sessions are lead by a certified Google educator. VCU Rec Sports: New Female/Male Only Swim
VCU Rec Sports offers new female/male only swims. Every other Friday, beginning Jan. 20, the MCV Campus Aquatic Center will feature a female only swim time from 7-9 p.m. There will be female lifeguards on duty for the female-only swims and blinds on the pool deck for ultimate privacy. Male-only swim time will be held on alternating Fridays, beginning on Jan. 27, with male lifeguards on hand.
