Third Thursday Theology hosts Omar Abubaker, D.M.D., Ph.D., Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in the Samuel Putney House Boardroom, as he tells the story about the loss of his son and how he was able to look at addiction with a new perspective through an educational program at VCU. 'Real Life Film Series: Mobilize'
Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 from noon to 1 p.m.
VCU Libraries and University Student Commons and Activities invite the VCU community to bring lunch to a film screening and discussion of “Mobilize” in the Hunton Learning Center, TML Learning Center, Room 209. This film is an explosive investigative documentary that explores the potential long-term health effects from cell phone radiation, including brain cancer and infertility. The "Real Life Film Series" presents engaging health science documentaries followed by discussion about how the film relates to current health trends.

VCU's weeklong celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. provides opportunities to reflect on his life and pursue service to others. Spring 2017 IRB Training Schedule and Informed Consent Workshop Series
The Office of Research and Innovation holds spring 2017 IRB-related trainings. In addition, an Informed Consent Workshop Series will be held throughout the semester. The four workshops will address advanced aspects of the informed consent document/process. The topics have been developed from actual auditing/monitoring findings. Seats Still Available: UNIV291 'The Science of Happiness'
VCU offers "The Science of Happiness (UNIV 291), a three-credit course exploring the causes of mental health challenges and the factors that promote well-being, team-taught by faculty who specialize in these areas. A research-based, interactive class, "The Science of Happiness" helps students learn effective ways to positively impact their well-being and lays the foundation for success in college and beyond.
