Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research presents its "Discovery Dialogues" seminar, "Discovery of Genetic Predictors for Central Nervous System Drug Response: The Path to Personalized Treatment" presented by Joseph McClay, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science, in VCU Medical Center, Main Hospital, First Floor, Learning Center (across from the cafeteria). 'GerryRigged: Turning Democracy on its Head'

The Robertson School of Media and Culture in the College of Humanities Sciences, along with VCU Libraries and OneVirginia2021, presents "GerryRigged: Turning Democracy on its Head" in Cabell Library, Room 303. This documentary examines the historical context and consequences of gerrymandering through a multi-partisan lens that includes Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians and the Tea Party. Free and open to the public.
Active Minds at VCU: First General Body Meeting
7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Active Minds at VCU hosts its first general body meeting of the semester at the White House, 806 W. Franklin St. Active Minds is a national advocacy group that works to fight the stigma against mental illness by promoting mental well-being. Active Minds connects the VCU community to resources and get the community engaged on the topic.
Global Fashion Celebration
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising and VCU Globe, the living-learning program, host a Global Fashion Celebration at The Depot. A fashion show will take place at 7:30 p.m. presenting traditional apparel from around the globe. Light refreshments will follow. All are welcome.

'Black History in the Making'

The Department of African American Studies hosts its annual "Black History in the Making" ceremony at The Depot. The "Black History in the Making" award is given to students who have been identified by their departments as being stellar achievers. Recipients will be honored at the ceremony, which will be followed by a reception.

The Student Leadership and Involvement Center hosts a roundtable in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room, that is open to students who want to learn more about community service opportunities. The roundtables will feature upcoming service opportunities from SLIC staff, cross-organization collaboration opportunities and a chance to discuss successes and challenges in partnering with organizations in the Richmond community. 'Questioning Cinema: Loving'

VCU Libraries presents "Loving" production participants from the VCU community at a screening of "Loving" to explore the new film and the issues it raises in Cabell Library, Room 303. The screening will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a discussion at 7:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Generation Dream 2017

Antonio Garcia Faculty Jazz Recital
Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at 4 p.m.
Trombonist, composer and jazz studies director Antonio Garcia presents his Faculty Jazz Recital in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. The recital will feature trumpeter Rex Richardson, vocalist Mary Hermann Garcia, VCU Jazz Orchestra I, Greater Richmond High School Jazz Band, Nashville Avenue Stompers, as well as videoed choreography by dance professor Eric Rivera to a commissioned composition by Garcia. Admission is free.

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising hosts a model call for Runway 2017 at The Depot. Requirements for female models are: height 5'9"; jean size 27/28; dress size 2-8; maximum bust size 36". Females should bring two-inch heels; no platforms. Requirements for male models are: height 5'11"; jean size 32. All models must be 18 years or older. Runway 2017 will be held on Wednesday, May 10.
2017 Lip Sync Battle
Friday, Mar. 24, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Leadership Council for the College of Humanities and Colleges (CHS Leadership Council) hosts the 2017 Lip Sync Battle at Grace Street Theater. OCSS Moving On, Moving Off: Rental Education Workshops
Off-Campus Student Services holds workshops from noon to 1 p.m. in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room, throughout the semester for first-time renters. The sessions will walk participants step-by-step through the process of finding and then renting a first apartment. Participants will learn about deposits, leases, budgets and tenant/landlord rights. Sessions will be held on Feb. 6, 14, 16, 20 and 22; March 14, 16, 21 and 23; April 3 and 5.

$99k in Scholarships Available: Applications Due Feb. 16
VCU Business Services accepts applications for 13 academic scholarships in the 2017-2018 academic year. Scholarships vary from $500 to $4,000 and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. Specialty scholarships are also available for international students and single parents. Scholarship applications are available online at bsv.vcu.edu/scholarships and must be submitted by Thursday, Feb. 16.

'Implicit Bias and Healthcare: Awareness to Action'
The Division for Health Sciences Diversity invites health sciences students to enroll in the spring 2017 diversity co-curricular, "Implicit Bias and Healthcare: Awareness to Action." There will be six sessions on Tuesdays from Feb. 21 to April 11. Attendance at all sessions is expected. Participants can bring lunch to class. Registration is open until Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Mini Ram Camp @ VCU Rec Sports
VCU Recreational Sports offers a summer "Mini Ram Camp" to provide a safe, fun environment for children ages 6-10 of the VCU and surrounding community. Weekly sessions are scheduled between June 19 and Aug. 7. Camp registration opens to children of VCU students and Recreational Sports members on Monday, Feb. 13. "Footprints on the James" Summer Course Registration
"Footprints on the James" is a 5-week-long summer course offered at VCU which combines faculty from the Biology Department, the Center for Environmental Studies and the Outdoor Adventure Program, in order to create a collaborative and hands-on learning experience sea kayaking, hiking and canoeing through the James River watershed. The 2017 summer schedule will be available on Thursday, Feb. 9, and registration begins for all students on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
