VCU Rec Sports: Small Group Training February Overview

VCU Recreational Sports offers small group training, which includes 5-13 exercisers in 4-8 week training programs. Registration for the following programs ends on Friday, Feb. 3: women on weights; beginner and intermediate Olympic-style weightlifting; Taekwondo; functional fitness training. In these courses, participants will set goals, improve skills and measure progress. Fees vary. The full spring 2017 schedule is available at the website below.

Wintergreen Day Ski Trips

VCU Outdoor Adventure Program holds day ski trips to Wintergreen Resort this February. The first trip will be Saturday, Feb. 4, the second will be Saturday, Feb. 18. Participants will spend a day skiing, snowboarding and sliding on the slopes. Lessons and transportation are free. A purchase of lift ticket and rentals are required for those who do not have their own equipment.

Open Science Sessions Teach Tactics in Transparency

VCU Libraries hosts two free workshops on Tuesday, Feb. 7, by the Center for Open Science to teach easy, practical steps to increase the reliability of research projects. The morning session will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Cabell Library. The afternoon session will held from 1-4 p.m. at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences. 'Give it a Tri!': VCU Rec Sports Triathlon Training Program

Rec Sports offers the Tri-Training program, a fitness incentive program where each participant's goal is to complete a triathlon over the course of five weeks. Participants will work at their own pace and track progress through mileage accumulated during individual workouts, classes and lessons. Free options for Tri-Training includes U.S. Masters swim practices, weekly workouts on the pool deck and indoor cycling classes. No previous triathlon experience is necessary.
