Volunteer Opportunity: FeedMore
8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
The Student Leadership and Involvement Center sponsors a volunteer service trip to FeedMore, 1415 Rhoadmiller St. The group will be packaging and sorting food at the Richmond-area food bank. The Money Spot at VCU co-sponsors a workshop with the Virginia Credit Union in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1100, to help students understand the pros and cons of accepting student loans and how student loan debt impacts their personal credit score and credit history.
'Under the Hijab and the Kippah: Muslims and Jews in a Divided America'

The School of World Studies Religious Studies Program presents "Under the Hijab and the Kippah: Muslims and Jews in a Divided America," a Religious Studies faculty panel discussion, in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 2201. The panel will feature Samaneh Oladi, assistant professor of Islam; David Weinfeld, assistant professor of Judaic Studies; and Jon Waybright, instructor and School of World Studies director of internships.

Angela Davis Lecture: Live Stream Tickets

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs presents Angela Davis, an activist on behalf of women's rights, racial justice and prisoners' rights since the 1960s, delivering a lecture in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Davis will address the current racial, political and economic climate, in addition to her own perspective as an activist and scholar. Tickets for the in-person lecture are completely sold out, but tickets are available to attend a live stream of her lecture in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1107. Live stream tickets are free and are available in the OMSA office, University Student Commons, Suite 215, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TheatreVCU: 'A Time to Kill'

TheatreVCU presents "A Time to Kill" from Feb. 16-26 at the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by David Leong, fight director for the 2013 original Broadway production, "A Time to Kill" is the story of an African-American man put on trial for the murder of two white men who savagely beat and raped his ten-year-old daughter. Based on John Grisham's novel, this race-charged courtroom drama has all the power of the film featuring Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McConaughey.

'Shaping Bodies Symposium'

The Department of Craft/Material Studies presents "Shaping Bodies Symposium" from 9 a.m. to noon at the Grace Street Theater, and from 1-5 p.m. at The Depot. The one-day symposium will host Cassils, Chelsey Johnson, Jenni Sorkin and Kara Thompson - artists and scholars engaged in conversations around the body, gender identity, race, social justice and material culture/histories. The panelists will present their individual research, followed by an open-table guided discussion with attendees (3:30 p.m. at The Depot).

'Miss Representation' Documentary Screening

The Alpha Zeta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/SeƱoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc and the Phi Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. host a screening of the documentary "Miss Representation" in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. The cultural effects of media on gender roles will be discussed. Food and drinks will be provided.
Mardi Gras Celebrations at Shafer
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
VCUDine transforms Shafer Court Dining Center into the New Orleans French Quarter for Mardi Gras. Those that swipe in to Shafer between 5-10 p.m. will hear live music performed by students from the School of Music and enjoy classic creole-inspired dishes like fried catfish, jambalaya and crispy, powder sugar-dusted beignets. Participants can also grab VCU-branded Mardi Gras beads and eat a slice of king cake.

Runway 2017: Model Call
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising hosts a model call for Runway 2017 at The Depot. Requirements for female models are: height 5'9"; jean size 27/28; dress size 2-8; maximum bust size 36". Females should bring two-inch heels; no platforms. Requirements for male models are: height 5'11"; jean size 32. All models must be 18 years or older. Runway 2017 will be held on Wednesday, May 10.
'Passport to Asia'

Alpha Kappa Delta Phi and its fellow Joint Asian Organizations (JAO) present the annual "Passport to Asia" event in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Attendees will explore different Asian cultures and enjoy a variety of free food, performances, games and prizes. Featuring special demos by aKDPhi at VCU, John Kang Acupuncture, Vietnamese Student Association, Wushu Club at VCU, Blank Canvas, LiNK, Rhythm & Rhyme at VCU, RamJUDO, and FACT at VCU.
