The Activities Programming Board promotes self-love in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Attendees will enjoy a photo booth, positive mirror postings, stemless wine glass decorating, stuff-a-bear, henna, a nail technician and a chocolate fountain.

Community Service Leaders Roundtable

Film Screening: 'Soul Food Junkies'
Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 from noon to 1 p.m.
VCU Libraries and University Student Commons and Activities invite the VCU community to bring lunch to a film screening and discussion of "Soul Food Junkies" in Hunton Student Center, TML Learning Center, Room 209. This film looks at the past and future of soul food, covering its roots in Western Africa, its incarnation in the American South, and the role it plays in the health crisis in the African American community. Group discussion will be facilitated by librarian Irene Lubker.

Escalation Workshop
Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
SAVES (Students Advocating Violence Education and Support) hosts an escalation workshop in the University Student Commons, Virginia Room B. There will be a showing of the film, "Escalation," created by the One Love Foundation followed by a discussion on intimate partner violence/dating violence and red flags. Free Chipotle will be provided.
TheatreVCU: 'A Time to Kill'
Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
TheatreVCU presents "A Time to Kill" from Feb. 16-26 at the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by David Leong, fight director for the 2013 original Broadway production, "A Time to Kill" is the story of an African-American man put on trial for the murder of two white men who savagely beat and raped his ten-year-old daughter. Based on John Grisham's novel, this race-charged courtroom drama has all the power of the film featuring Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McConaughey.

13th Annual Marquita Aguilar Walk-a-thon: 'RAMSFIT 4 LIFE'

VCU Staff Senate presents the 13th annual Marquita Aguilar Walk-a-Thon, "RAMSFIT 4 LIFE," starting on the Commons Plaza. The walk-a-thon raises funds for the Virginia's Caring University scholarship that assists continuing VCU undergraduate students (rising juniors and seniors) in need of financial assistance. Registration is required. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU and VCU Health System, will speak at noon and the walk will follow.
