'Appy Hour: Travel Apps for Your Next Vacation'
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
RamTech holds a free "Appy Hour" lunch session for faculty and staff in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room. The "Appy Hour" will showcase the top apps needed on-hand when traveling in the U.S. or abroad. Attendees should bring a brown bag lunch. A free goodie bag and Pepsi products will be provided. 'Black History in the Making'

The Department of African American Studies hosts its annual "Black History in the Making" ceremony at The Depot. The "Black History in the Making" award is given to students who have been identified by their departments as being stellar achievers. Recipients will be honored at the ceremony, which will be followed by a reception.

VCU Health System Human Resources presents "The Science, Art and Philosophy of Floating" in The Learning Center, VCU Medical Center, Main Hospital, First Floor. David Berv, D.C., veteran Richmond health care provider and floatation expert, will discuss why the emerging mind/body therapy of "floating," or Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique (R.E.S.T.), is on the rise and how it applies to attendees. Open to all.
'Objects + Methods Lectures': Hassan Rahim

The Department of Graphic Design presents Hassan Rahim in the Pollak Building, Room 315. Rahim is a designer from California now working out of New York City. He deals in stark, esoteric imagery; it doesn't recoil from darkness. His work has appeared on and ranged from magazines, galleries, albums, stages, street corners, wearables and of course online. Often as distinctive and boundary-troubling as he himself is, his work embodies far-flung but carefully steeped influences arranged into thrilling new harmonies.

VCUarts Langston Hughes Project Jazz Montage: A Multimedia Concert Performance

VCU Music puts on a concert by The Langston Hughes Project and Ron McCurdy in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. The multimedia concert with trumpeter Ron McCurdy’s jazz quartet focuses on Hughes's jazz poem "Ask Your Mama," his homage in verse and music to the struggle for artistic and social freedom at home and abroad at the beginning of the 1960s. Free admission. This event is funded by the VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Initiative.

'Masters in Healthcare Professionals Education: Do We Need It? What Should it Look Like?'

The Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care invites the VCU community to the Molecular Medicine Research Building, Room 1-009, to discuss the School of Education developing a master's degree focused on teaching and learning in the health care professions. Questions such as "is this degree something that health care professionals want and need?" and "what should be included in the program to make it attractive to those who have learning development roles in health care?" will be answered. Attendees should come with ideas for what courses should be a part of this degree, as well as suggestions for the target audience and how to reach them. Food will be provided for those who register.
