The Department of Graphic Design presents Hassan Rahim in the Pollak Building, Room 315. Rahim is a designer from California now working out of New York City. He deals in stark, esoteric imagery; it doesn't recoil from darkness. His work has appeared on and ranged from magazines, galleries, albums, stages, street corners, wearables and of course online. Often as distinctive and boundary-troubling as he himself is, his work embodies far-flung but carefully steeped influences arranged into thrilling new harmonies.

VCU Music puts on a concert by The Langston Hughes Project and Ron McCurdy in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. The multimedia concert with trumpeter Ron McCurdy’s jazz quartet focuses on Hughes's jazz poem "Ask Your Mama," his homage in verse and music to the struggle for artistic and social freedom at home and abroad at the beginning of the 1960s. The Graduate School announces a call for applications to the 2017-18 Graduate School Mentorship Program (GSMP). The GSMP matches undergraduate and graduate students in mentoring relationships in order to expose undergraduate students to the graduate experience as they consider further study and to provide graduate students with the opportunity to develop mentoring skills as they share their own personal experiences with the undergraduate students in the program. Students are matched based on areas of academic discipline and/or interest. Students interested in being matched with a specific student must both indicate this interest on the application. In order to qualify, graduate students must be at least second-year and be in good academic standing. For undergraduate student mentee applicants, preference is given to applicants going into their sophomore, junior or senior years. Undergraduates are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 throughout the duration of the program. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, March 1, for initial review. Applications will be accepted by rolling admissions.

The Allied Health Career Exploration is a two-week, non-residential program designed to expose students to the diverse professional programs available at the VCU School of Allied Health Professions, such as patient counseling, clinical laboratory sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, rehabilitation counseling, radiation sciences, health administration and gerontology, through hands-on activities and workshops.
