Technology Services and VCU Libraries present the 2017 VCU Tech Fair at Cabell Library, Lecture Hall, Room 303. The fair features hands-on demos, presentations, free light lunch and giveaways courtesy of vendor contributors. Attendees will learn about innovative technologies and can enter to win cutting-edge prizes. Those that attend information sessions will be entered into special prize drawings. Open to all students, faculty and staff; no pre-registration is required.

Work/Life Summer Camp Fair
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Work/Life holds a Summer Camp Fair in the University Student Commons, Virginia Room A, for attendees to explore options to keep vacationing children happy, active and creative this summer. Attendees will be able to talk with representatives from VCU's most popular camps.

SGA Blood Drive
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Student Government Association holds a blood drive with the local American Red Cross in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Every donation can save up to three lives and burn over 600 calories. All donors will receive a free Sugar Shack doughnut in addition to a free Red Eye Cookie Co. cookie. COBE Connect Lunch: 'Service Utilization and Mental Health at VCU'

VCUDine presents a "Seafood Bash and Sushi Extravaganza" at Shafer's Market 810. One swipe into Shafer's Market 810 will get attendees creamy shrimp and pasta Alfredo, crab and spinach dip and shrimp bibimbap. For an extra swipe, attendees can choose from a variety of specialty sushi flavors.

VCUDine Spring Cake Sale: Pre-Sale and Sampling
Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
VCUDine cakes will be available for sampling and ordering in the Shafer Court Dining Center Lobby. Flavors include cherry pineapple cake, carrot cake and strawberry cobbler. Orders may be placed in-person on Wednesday, April 5, or by calling VCU Catering through Wednesday, April 12. All cakes must be paid for at the time of the order. Cake pickup will be on Friday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Health Occupation Students of America: Bone Marrow Registry Drive
Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2017 from noon to 6 p.m.
The Health Occupation Students of America partners with Be The Match on Campus at VCU to host a bone marrow registry drive at the University Student Commons, Concession Stand. The purpose of the drive is to register people to the Be The Match national bone marrow registry. The sample collection process is simple and non-invasive and consists of four separate cheek swabs.

The Divisions for Health Sciences Diversity and Inclusive Excellence, VCU ASPiRE, VCU GLOBE, VCU LEAD, The Honors College, Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and TRiO Student Support Services present an evening with John Dau in Hibbs Hall, Room 403. Dau will be speaking about his experiences as a survivor of genocide and human rights violations in South Sudan, his foundation and efforts to provide health care to the people of South Sudan.

The School of Education presents the Ruth Harris Professorship Lecture in Dyslexia Studies in the Sports Medicine Building, First Floor Parlor. The lecture features guest speaker Daryl Mellard, Ph.D., research professor and director of the National Center on Online Learning and Students with Disabilities, University of Kansas.
RPI Dedication Ceremony

VCU Alumni and the Activities Programming Board hold a dedication ceremony commemorating the accomplishments of the Richmond Professional Institute in the University Student Commons Theater. There will be brief remarks from students and staff, followed by refreshments and a commemorative prize for attendees.

Outdoor Adventure Program Backpacking Weekend: April 15-16

The VCU Outdoor Adventure Program offers a backpacking weekend from April 15-16. Participants will take in the scenic views and vibrant colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains of West Virginia. United2heal Gala
Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
United2heal hosts a gala at The Jepson Alumni Center, 49 Crenshaw Way, Richmond, 23229. United2heal is a nonprofit organization with the goal of collecting medical supplies within the area that would have been thrown away due to excess or expiration. The medical supplies are packaged and shipped to different countries in need. The gala will help to continue these efforts and prizes will be auctioned off.

Time to Order Regalia for May Commencement
Virginia Commonwealth University's May Commencement exercises take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Richmond Coliseum, 601 E. Leigh St. Faculty participating in the ceremony will wear academic apparel. Regalia must be ordered by Friday, April 14.

Two is better than one. VCU is implementing the VCU 2factor Authentication system to help protect our institution and personal information from cybercriminals. 'Cabell Creative Sprint' Set for April 3-14
VCU Libraries and the School of Business present Noah Scalin, School of Business artist-in-residence, as he shares inspiration from his latest book, "Creative Sprint," with the university community in a multi-day creativity exercise. Look for a table with daily prompts and materials in the lobby of Cabell Library and posts on Facebook and Twitter. All in the VCU community are invited to join in.

Young Aces Open: Volunteers Needed
The Mary and Frances Youth Center seeks volunteers to help with its annual event, Young Aces Open, on Thursday, April 27. Young Aces Open serves more than 200 4th and 5th graders from Richmond Public Schools and provides an opportunity to students to showcase tennis skills in the largest tournament of its kind in the world. Volunteers will welcome participants, serve as court monitors, facilitate fun activity stations and assist with event management logistics.

Policy Open for Public Comment: Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation for Individuals with Disabilities
The Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation for Individuals with Disabilities policy is now open for university comment through Friday, April 7. The policy has been revised to include a grievance procedure for student complaints regarding accommodation or accessibility.
