'Pariah' Screening and Panel Discussion
Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The Wellness Resource Center and Office of Multicultural Student Affairs host a screening of "Pariah" followed by a panel discussion in the University Student Commons, Forum Room, in honor of Black History Month. The intersectionality of race, sexuality and gender expression will be highlighted through the screening. The movie shares the perspective of a lesbian woman of color. A panel discussion with LGBTQIA+ people of color will follow the screening. Snacks will be provided.

Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences hosts a webcast of the UNC Minority Health Conference William T. Small, Jr. keynote in Room 2010. The theme for the conference is "Systems of Power: Recalling Our Past, Restructuring Our Future." The webcast will stream the recorded keynote address by Chandra Ford, Ph.D., followed by a live question-and-answer session with the keynote speaker.

'What's Next?: The Trump Effect'

The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice and Eta Lambda Sigma Fraternity presents an open discussion, "What's Next?: The Trump Effect," in Harris Hall, Room 2126. This event is intended to create a safe and open environment to discuss opinions and concerns about the events taking place during Trump's administration. 'Syrian Refugee Camp #019 Bekaa Valley, Lebanon: Trapped Between Immanuel Kant’s 'Perpetual In-Hospitality' and Michel Foucault’s 'Bio-Politics of Live and Let Die'
Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The School of World Studies International Studies Program presents a teach-in in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 2201, examining the plight of Syrian refugees from two philosophical paradigms - one of Immanuel Kant’s "Perpetual Peace" and the concept of "Hospitality"; and second through the intersectionality of Michel Foucault’s biopolitics of "Live and Let Die." The discussion is part of research on the persecution of homosexuals, the enslavement of Yazidi women, the plight of Syrian refugees and the trafficking of vulnerable persons. This was made possible by research grants from VCU’s Humanities Research Center and Global Education Office.
10th Annual Equity and Social Justice Conference

The School of Education presents the 10th annual Equity and Social Justice Conference at the Academic Learning Commons. Keynotes will include Leigh Patel, Boston College; SJ Miller, New York University; and Eugene Puryear, Movement for Black Lives. This conference will focus on the role of teaching and leadership in struggles for equity, justice and liberation.

The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) invites all VCU students to apply to be a member of its new Student Advisory Committee. Undergraduate and graduate students from all fields of study are welcome to apply. Committee members will advocate for the ICA and gain a variety of professional experience. SGA Spring 2017 Officer Elections
The VCU Student Government Association (SGA) holds elections of the president and vice president of undergraduate students. Voting for the candidates will open on Monday, Feb. 20, at 9 a.m. and will close on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 5 p.m. To vote, visit the SGA website below. Results of the election will be posted on Monday, Feb. 27, at noon via the SGA website and at the SGA offices - University Student Commons, Room 119, and Hunton Student Center, Room 305.

Men and women who smoke cigarettes between the ages of 18-21 are needed to participate in a research study that requires seven, 2.5 hour, laboratory visits. Compensation is provided.
