The Activities Programming Board presents "Inclusion Happy Hour" on the Commons Plaza for participants to learn about "different abilities not disabilities." Attendees can dunk a stigma at the dunk booth, make DIY trail mix and privilege beads, and sign which ice cream they would like with ASL.
Human Resources: 'Eldercare 101 Session'

Human Resources presents "Elder Care 101," for participants to learn a family approach to care giving and how families can work together to fix problems and handle fights with siblings, other family members, and older relatives, in the HR Training Building. To register, visit the website below.

'Memory and Memorials in Indian Country: Or How Living Memory Creates the Past'
3 p.m.
The Department of English in conjunction with the Humanities Research Center and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs present a lecture by Scott Stevens that considers the notion of "Indian Country" in relationship to its shifting borders throughout the span of U.S. history in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. This event is free and open to the public.
'Objects of Devotion: Religion at the Nation's History Museum'

The Humanities Research Center and the Religious Studies Program in the School of World Studies present "Objects of Devotion: Religion at the Nation's History Museum" featuring Peter Manseau, Lilly Endowment Curator of American Religious History, Smithsonian Museum of American History, in Cabell Library, Lecture Hall. 'Queer Threads': John Chaich, Curator Lecture
5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Department of Craft/Material Studies and VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Initiative host John Chaich discussing the evolution of his book, "Queer Threads: Crafting Identity and Community," its exhibition precedent, and his experiences as a graphic designer, AIDS activist and queer art curator, at The Depot. His book is available at Barnes & Noble @ VCU.

Outdoor Adventure Program: Full Moon Canoe Trip
5 p.m.
The Outdoor Adventure Program offers a full moon canoe trip on the James River. Participants will begin paddling at sunset and continue into the evening to watch the full moon rise over the river. Two guides will accompany the group and the trip should be back to the Outing Rental Center by 11 p.m. The cost for students is $15 and the cost for VCU Rec Sports members is $20. Tuition Information Session

The Division of Student Affairs, Office of Budget and Finance and the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management hold an information session in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1107, that will provide attendees with an overview of VCU's proposed 2017-18 budget and the process for determining tuition for the upcoming academic year. VCU Jazz Orchestra I in Concert

VCU Jazz Orchestra I performs with guest trumpeter Ingrid Jensen under the direction of Prof. Antonio Garcia in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. Music will include Nestico, Ellington, Jones, Wheeler and Harrell. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door or free with a VCU student ID.

The Activities Programming Board holds an event in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms, for attendees to learn about the importance of becoming an organ donor. Participants can play a giant game of operation and make a paracord bracelet while eating Buffalo Wild Wings.
'The Black Artist in Perspective': Shawn Theodore

The Department of African American Studies presents a talk by Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist Shawn Theodore at The Depot. Theodore's work focuses on the fragmentation and manipulation of African American and African Diaspora identities and otherness, while exploring concepts of race, spirituality, patriarchy, matriarchy and class structure within disappearing black communities. The event is free and open to the public.

'An Evening with Nicole Byer and Ashlee Haze'

Bryan Stevenson at the Siegel Center

Health Career Fair

The Division for Health Sciences Diversity hosts a Health Career Fair for 8th-12th graders at the MCV Alumni House. 'Yards for Yeardley' Celebration Event
Thursday, Apr. 13, 2017 from noon to 2 p.m.
Students Advocating Violence Education and Support (SAVES) hosts a celebration event for the conclusion of the "Yards for Yeardley" challenge in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms C-D. Attendees will help celebrate SAVES reaching its goal of one million yards for the "Yards for Yeardley" challenge and receive free One Love bracelets. The individual who completed the most yards will receive a One Love T-shirt.
VCU Community Health Education Center Program: 'Get Active and Healthy'

The VCU Community Health Education Center hosts a program on how to get active and healthy at the center, VCU Medical Center, Gateway Building, Ground Floor. 'Tiny Shiny VCU: Jewelry Exhibition and Sale'

VCUarts Department of Craft and Material Studies presents "Tiny, Shiny VCU: Jewelry Exhibition and Sale" at Quirk Gallery, 207 W. Broad St. The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 14, from 6-9 p.m. and the sale will continue on Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, from noon to 4 p.m. The showcase will encompass unique, handmade jewelry from faculty, graduate and undergraduate students in the VCUarts Department of Craft/Material Studies. A portion of the proceeds will fund a scholarship to help students attend the SNAG annual metalsmith conference.
Spring Garden Renewal
Saturday, Apr. 15, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dominion Place Partnership and the VCU Student Government Association sponsor a spring garden renewal at Dominion Place Apartments, 1025 W. Grace St. Shifts are available from 10:30 a.m. to noon, 1-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:30 p.m. Participants will assist in cleaning the rooftop gardens of the apartment complex and create a wonderful social environment for residents. Pizza will be served at lunchtime, as well as snacks and lemonade in the late afternoon.
Outdoor Adventure Program: New River Climbing Weekend
Saturday, Apr. 15, 2017 at 8 a.m.
The Outdoor Adventure Program offers a weekend climbing trip from April 15-16. This trip is designed for climbers of all abilities and will be open to students for $44 and members of VCU Rec Sports for $50. Price includes food, transportation, equipment and guides. VCU Student Social Justice Fund
The Division for Inclusive Excellence has established the new VCU Student Social Justice Fund. Teams of students, with support of a faculty or staff mentor, will submit proposals for creative and new solutions to challenges facing our campus, local, national or international communities. Up to four proposals will each receive awards of $2,500 to implement their innovative solutions during summer and fall 2017.
