Chili’s at VCU: Official Men’s Basketball Away Game Watch Parties

Chili's at VCU hosts the official Men's Basketball game watch party versus cross-town rival University of Richmond. Fans can catch the HAVOC on each of Chilis' nine TVs and take advantage of specials like the $5 game-day burger. Attendees are encouraged to wear VCU gear for free giveaways and prizes. Antonio Garcia Faculty Jazz Recital
Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at 4 p.m.
Trombonist, composer and jazz studies director Antonio Garcia presents his Faculty Jazz Recital in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. The recital will feature trumpeter Rex Richardson, vocalist Mary Hermann Garcia, VCU Jazz Orchestra I, Greater Richmond High School Jazz Band, Nashville Avenue Stompers, as well as videoed choreography by dance professor Eric Rivera to a commissioned composition by Garcia. Admission is free.

Faculty Workshop on Affordable Texts; Stipends Offered
Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
VCU Libraries holds a workshop in Cabell Library, Room 205, for faculty concerned about the high cost of textbooks to explore alternatives. Seating is limited and attendees who write a short review will receive a $200 stipend. Interested faculty and instructors must apply to be considered for a stipend, but all are invited to attend the session.

Discussion and Book Signing: 'Stand Your Ground: American's Love Affair with Lethal Self-Defense'

The Department of African American Studies hosts a talk and book signing with Caroline Light, Ph.D., author of "Stand Your Ground: American's Love Affair with Lethal Self-Defense" in the Commons Theater. No advance registration is required, but R.S.V.P.s are requested through Tuesday, Feb. 21, for planning purposes.
