'First-Gen Fridays'

Strategic Enrollment Management presents "First-Gen Fridays" in West Grace Street Student Housing-South, Room 1004a, for students, faculty and staff who will be/were first in their family to graduate from college. This month's topic is "Preparing for Fall: National Scholarships and Do the Math!" "First-Gen Fridays" is for first-generation college students to meet one another and to meet faculty and staff who are also first-gen. Participants can meet each month to network and learn about resources designed for student success.

The Anthropology Program in the School of World Studies hosts its Spring 2017 Anthropology Speaker Series featuring Amy Rector Verrelli, Ph.D., assistant professor of anthropology, discussing "Reconstructing Hominin Paleoenvironments: How Did We Become Human?" in the Commons Theater. This event is free and open to the public.
'Cineforum'
5 p.m.
The School of World Studies Italian Program invites the VCU community to a viewing of director Francesco Rosi's "Le mani sulla citta" in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1100. There will be a brief introduction to Rosi and the film by Sydney Conrad, Ph.D., followed by an informal discussion after the film. Free and open to the public.
Second Annual Chi Alpha/Feed One Giant Jenga Tournament
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Chi Alpha holds its second annual giant jenga tournament with an even bigger purpose in Harris Hall, Room 2129. Teams of three or four will compete for prizes and a chance to feed kids all over the world. The cost is $5 per person and all proceeds will go to FeedOne. Payments by card only accepted on location. Canned goods/non-perishable foods will also be collected for RamPantry.
'Belles of the Ball'

The Activities Programming Board invites the VCU community to show off their vocals with a night filled with karaoke in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Participants can sing their favorite songs and enjoy a night out with fellow Rams. There will be a house DJ, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and a taco and fajita bar.
'Sleep Disturbances and Depression: The Role of Genes and Trauma'

Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research at VCU sponsors "Sleep Disturbances and Depression: The Role of Genes and Trauma" presented by Mackenzie Lind in BioTech One, Ball Conference Room. Lind, CCTR Ph.D. candidate in the psychiatric, behavioral and statistical genetics concentration (PBSG), will defend her thesis.

The Center for Sport Leadership program works with Sportable to host the VCU Paralympic Experience Day at the Siegel Center. This event is open to the public and the mission is to bring in a brand-new consumer to the Sportable organization.
