Muslim Students Association: 'Let's Talk' and 'Scarves for Solidarity'

The Muslim Students Association holds an open discussion to talk about important issues in the community today in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms C-D. Attendees will gain more understanding about the concerns of our brothers and sisters. The MSA also invites the VCU community to wear a scarf for a day and learn about what the hijab means in Islam as part of Islam Awareness Week. For those who want to participate, but do not have a scarf, stop by the booth on the Compass from noon to 4 p.m. to get one.

Amnesty International at VCU presents "Slamnesty," an open-mic night in the University Student Commons, Virginia Room A, featuring a gathering of poets, artists, musicians and anyone who wishes to share experiences. Focus will be placed on the amnesty campaign, "The America I Believe In," which addresses the climate of fear and hate that is sweeping the nation and how the actions of public figures and the media could have disastrous consequences for human rights.
VCUarts Presents: PERFORMING HISTORY- Two Days of Lectures and Performances by Contemporary Black Artists

VCU Rec Sports Yoga Day

VCU Rec Sports Group Exercise hosts its first annual Yoga Day at the Cary Street Gym in the Group Exercise Studio. Classes will run all day and are catered to all levels (new yogis are encouraged to attend). For a chance to win yoga prizes, participants are encouraged to wear their craziest yoga pants/leggings. 'Ram Point'

The Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) Club at VCU hosts its first tournament, "Ram Point," at the Cary Street Gym, Indoor Soccer Field. Competitors will be fighting with historically accurate long-swords in timed matches for medals and bragging rights. Anyone interested in seeing historically-accurate sword fighting is invited to attend.

Trademarks and Licensing Vendor Fair

The Office of Trademarks and Licensing hosts a vendor fair in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballroom. Attendees will learn more about the licensing policy at VCU and meet the vendors that can be used to get VCU-branded products for departmental use, giveaways and student groups. There will be a raffle with a chance to win over 10 items. Free pizza and beverages will be provided, while supplies last.

18th Annual Rao R. Ivatury Trauma Symposium

VCU Health presents the 18th annual Rao R. Ivatury Trauma Symposium at the Downtown Richmond Marriot Hotel, 500 E. Broad St. The topic will be "Extreme Injuries and Injuries of Extremities," a multidisciplinary conference designed to inform attendees about current challenges in trauma care throughout the continuum and will emphasize the special care of extremity injuries from the street to definitive care and rehabilitation in the urban and austere environments. The symposium will highlight the "Stop the Bleed" campaign teaching effective bleeding control techniques in the face of life-threatening external hemorrhage and offer the BCon course.

Celebration of VCU's Holocaust Torah

The Wellness Resource Center offers a new online training called "Clarifying Consent." This 25-minute program will answer the questions, "can you give consent while under the influence?"; "is my partner treating me right?"; or "how do I ask for what I want?" Volunteers Needed for RVA Cherry Blossom Festival
The Japanese Student Association seeks volunteers for the RVA Cherry Blossom Festival held on Sunday, March 26, on the Commons Plaza. The festival will have several cultural performances, food and activities such as calligraphy and origami.
Homelessness Awareness Project Seeking Volunteers
The Honors College seeks student volunteers (any level, any major) for its homelessness awareness project, "RVA. This is Our House. This is Their Home." Students are wanted to share their stories about their experiences with homeless persons on/around campus and in the city of Richmond. Volunteers will be interviewed and their story may be featured in a video. Interested students should email theirhomerva@vcu.edu with their name and a brief summary of their encounter by Friday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
