VCUarts: 'PERFORMING HISTORY'- Two Days of Lectures and Performances by Contemporary Black Artists
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VCUarts Sculpture + Extended Media Department presents "PERFORMING HISTORY," a series of events that bring together contemporary Black artists for a robust discussion of identity by looking at art that modifies, plays with, and reframes the historical record through object making and performance. Invited guests include the London-based artist and author Samson Kambalu, and the New York-based artists Sable E. Smith and Steffani Jemison. For full event details, visit the website below.

VCU AmeriCorps Open House for Summer Positions
10 a.m.
VCU AmeriCorps hosts an open house on Friday, March 24, 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. at the AmeriCorps office, 1103 W. Marshall St. AmeriCorps is in need of full-time summer tutors and mentors for elementary students in the city of Richmond. In exchange for a summer of service, AmeriCorps members receive a stipend and education award upon program completion.

The Society for Human Resource Management at VCU hosts a speaker series in Snead Hall, Room B2165. Each month this organization invites speakers from the Richmond area to discuss current trends and best practices in human resource management.
Baseball vs. La Salle: Weekend Series

VCU Athletics presents VCU Baseball playing La Salle in a weekend series at The Diamond, 3001 N. Boulevard. Game one will be held on Friday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m.; game two on Saturday, March 25, at 2 p.m.; and game three on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m.
Richmond Rhythm 2017
7 p.m.
The RAMifications of VCU hosts a collegiate a capella competition at the W.E. Singleton Center for Performing Arts. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 with a student ID or $15 for general admission. Ten groups from all over Virginia will be competing for best all around, soloist, beatboxer and fan favorite.

Third Annual RVA Cherry Blossom Festival
Sunday, Mar. 26, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Japanese Student Association presents the third annual Richmond Cherry Blossom Festival on the Commons Plaza. Participants will enjoy cultural performances, activities, snacks and tables hosted by local Japanese businesses. This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
'Ram Point'
Sunday, Mar. 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) Club at VCU hosts its first tournament, "Ram Point," at the Cary Street Gym, Indoor Soccer Field. Competitors will be fighting with historically accurate long-swords in timed matches for medals and bragging rights. Anyone interested in seeing historically-accurate sword fighting is invited to attend.

Open Forums for Search for Dean, School of the Arts: CORRECTION
Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Office of the Provost holds open forums for the first two candidates for the dean of the School of the Arts. The forum for Candidate A will be held on Tuesday, March 28, from 2-3 p.m. in Cabell Library, Multipurpose Room 250. The forum for Candidate B will be held on Thursday, March 30, from 2-3 p.m. in Cabell Library, Multipurpose Room 250. These forums will include a brief introduction and comments by the candidates followed by questions and conversation. If unable to attend, video and feedback links will be available shortly after the second visit is completed. To "meet the candidates," visit the website below. The forums for Candidates C and D will be held in April.

VCU Psychology's Distinguished Speaker Series: Adriana Umaña-Taylor, Ph.D.

The Department of Psychology's Distinguished Speaker Series welcomes Adriana Umaña-Taylor, Ph.D., for the talk "Can We Promote Positive Youth Adjustment by Intervening in Ethnic-Racial Identity Development?" at the Grace Street Theater. Umaña-Taylor is a professor in the School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University and an expert in child development, adolescent development, race, ethnicity and migration. 'VOICES: Diversity and Unconscious Bias'

The School of Pharmacy hosts "VOICES: Diversity and Unconscious Bias" in the Robert Blackwell Smith Building, Room 103. The discussion, open to all VCU faculty, staff and students, will center on increasing awareness of implicit bias and igniting change in how students respond to cultural and social events. Circle K International: Red Cross Blood Drive

Circle K International sponsors a Red Cross blood drive on March 29-30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Donors will receive a free T-shirt, Insomnia cookies and refreshments. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is encouraged by visiting the website below. TDoR Tree Dedication

VCU Police, in partnership with the Richmond Police Department and TDoR RVA, will dedicate a cherry tree in honor of the Transgender Day of Remembrance. The tree, to be planted at VCUPD headquarters, 224 East Broad St., will serve as a public space for the community to remember transgender individuals who lost their lives due to violence. RSVP is required at the link below. The ceremony will be held in the rear parking area, near the intersection of 3rd and Marshall streets.

The Ruth Harris Professorship Lecture in Dyslexia Studies
