'Queer Threads': Cindy Baker Fashion Performance
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Department of Craft/Materials Studies presents the culminating event of the "Queer Threads" event series, a fashion plate performance with Canadian artist Cindy Baker at Black Iris Gallery, 321 W. Broad St. Baker invites student designers and local garment makers to produce garments for her to showcase in a fashion catwalk show that confronts the design industry's disregard for deviant bodies.

'Tiny Shiny VCU: Jewelry Exhibition and Sale'
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
VCUarts Department of Craft and Material Studies presents "Tiny, Shiny VCU: Jewelry Exhibition and Sale" at Quirk Gallery, 207 W. Broad St. The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 14, from 6-9 p.m. and the sale will continue on Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, from noon to 4 p.m. The showcase will encompass unique, handmade jewelry from faculty, graduate and undergraduate students in the VCUarts Department of Craft/Material Studies. A portion of the proceeds will fund a scholarship to help students attend the SNAG annual metalsmith conference.

The Machine To Be Another from Be Another Labs @ the VCUarts Depot: Open Sessions

Funded by the VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Initiative, The Depot hosts "The Machine To Be Another," a multidisciplinary collaborative group of virtual reality researchers, designers, technicians and performers from Barcelona, Spain, at The Depot. Combining neuroscience protocols with art performance, they question the brain’s ability to perceive and to experience what it is like to be in the body of another person.

The Office of the Provost holds open forums for the final two candidates for the position of dean, School of the Arts. The forum for Candidate C will be held on Monday, April 17, from 2-3 p.m. in Cabell Library, Fourth Floor, John Mapp Seminar Room. The Forum for Candidate D will be held on Thursday, April 20, from 2-3 p.m. in Cabell Library, Fourth Floor, John Mapp Seminar Room. These forums will include a brief introduction and comments by the candidates, followed by questions and conversation. 'Getting to Know Clinicaltrials.gov'

The C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Tompkins-McCaw Library present the next lunch research seminar, "Getting to Know Clinicaltrials.gov," in the Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 109. Alanda Jones, CCTR, will discuss the requirements and compliance processes for clinicaltrials.gov. All intervention studies (not just drug studies) must be registered at clinicaltrials.gov, and failure to register a study may lead to large fines and inability to publish work. Attendees should bring lunch; drinks will be provided.

Sixth Annual Wilder School Plan-Off 2017

Peace Fair

Episcopal Campus Ministry at VCU hosts a Peace Fair featuring different religious and cultural organizations in the N. Cherry St. parking lot of Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 8 N. Laurel St. Groups will set up information tables and activities to express what peace means to them.
VCU Rec Sports and VCU Alumni: 'Family Fun Fest'

VCU Rec Sports and VCU Alumni host a "Family Fun Fest" at the Cary Street Gym. This will be a family-friendly event with refreshments, pool activities, rock-wall climbing, group exercise and giveaways. Admission is free and open to Rec Sports members, VCU and VCU Health faculty and staff, VCU alumni and community members.

Wireless Network Security Certificate Update
VCU Technology Services has a wireless network upgrade scheduled for Sunday, April 16, at 2 a.m. After the upgrade, certain devices may have to trust a new certificate in order to regain wireless connectivity. The new certificate will show up in a window on your device. Please only accept the certificate that is coming from acs4.cns.vcu.edu Issued by InCommon Server CA. Closures at Cabell Library Bus Stop
Due to a nearby event impacting street access, the Cabell Library bus stop will not be serviced during the following days/times this week: Monday, April 10, from 1:30-10:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 13, from 2:30-10:30 p.m.; Friday, April 14, from 1:30-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 15, from 2:30-10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 16, from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Campus Connector passengers should proceed to the Laurel and Main Street stop during these times.
