The Department of Craft/Materials Studies presents the culminating event of the "Queer Threads" event series, a fashion plate performance with Canadian artist Cindy Baker at Black Iris Gallery, 321 W. Broad St. Baker invites student designers and local garment makers to produce garments for her to showcase in a fashion catwalk show that confronts the design industry's disregard for deviant bodies.

VCUarts Department of Craft and Material Studies presents "Tiny, Shiny VCU: Jewelry Exhibition and Sale" at Quirk Gallery, 207 W. Broad St. The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 14, from 6-9 p.m. and the sale will continue on Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, from noon to 4 p.m. The showcase will encompass unique, handmade jewelry from faculty, graduate and undergraduate students in the VCUarts Department of Craft/Material Studies.
