Start By Believing Scavenger Hunt
Friday, Apr. 7, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
VCU Police, The Wellness Resource Center and the Central Virginia Start By Believing Task Force hold a scavenger hunt at Larrick Student Center to spread the word about sexual assault awareness and the Start By Believing Campaign. Participants will meet with various VCU and community resources available in regards to sexual assault awareness and learn how to "Start By Believing" by signing the pledge. There will be giveaways. To be entered to win the grand prize, participants can visit with all of the community partners.
World Health Day
Friday, Apr. 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Health Science Club hosts an event in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom, featuring guest speakers, food and education in recognition of the 2017 World Health Organization's "World Health Day" campaign, "Depression: Let's Talk." The event will help spread awareness and support for those who live with depression.
VCU Biostatistics: 2017 Spring Seminar Series

Activities Programming Board: 'Moana Under the Stars'

The Activities Programming Board presents a special outdoor showing of Disney's "Moana" on the Commons Plaza. Attendees can bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Chairs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Popcorn and water will also be provided.

'Queer Threads: Crochet Jam'

The Department of Craft/Material Studies and VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Initiative presents the first of two "Crochet Jams" with artist Ramekon O'Arwisters at The Depot. Ramekon O’Arwisters is a San Francisco-based social-practice artist who creates community-based art projects infused with folk-art traditions. During his "Crochet Jams," participants become physically connected with one another through the processes of making yarn from used clothing and crocheting a giant textile.

Tuition Information Session

'Trump vs. the Media'

The Robertson School of Media and Culture, VCU Libraries and the Society of Professional Journalists present "Trump vs. the Media" in the T. Edward Temple Building, Room 1164. Wyatt Andrews, professor of practice, Department of Media Studies at University of Virginia, and a former CBS news correspondent, will speak about fake news and the relationship between journalists and the current administration. The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session. This event is part of the Robertson School's Turpin Lecture Series.

This film is about how frontier research is proving there is a direct connection between your mind and health. Engaging discussion led by Georgianne Ginder, health and wellness counselor, Department of Arts in Healthcare, will follow the screening.

Outdoor Adventure Program: Beach Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

The Outdoor Adventure Program offers day of Beach Stand Up Paddleboarding. The cost will be $22 for students and $25 for VCU Rec Sports members. Food is not included in the price; participants should pack a lunch.

VCU Student Social Justice Fund
The Division for Inclusive Excellence has established the new VCU Student Social Justice Fund. Teams of students, with support of a faculty or staff mentor, will submit proposals for creative and new solutions to challenges facing our campus, local, national or international communities. Up to four proposals will each receive awards of $2,500 to implement their innovative solutions during summer and fall 2017.

Policy Open for Public Comment: Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation for Individuals with Disabilities
The Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation for Individuals with Disabilities policy is now open for university comment through Friday, April 7. The policy has been revised to include a grievance procedure for student complaints regarding accommodation or accessibility.
