The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU holds a Radical Listening session at the Richmond Public Library, Main Branch, Gellman Room, 101 E. Franklin St. Participants will learn about plans for the ICA and be able to engage in conversation around what the institution can do to be a convener and catalyst for VCU, Richmond and beyond. Three Case Studies for the Ethical Conduct of Clinical Research
Friday, May 12, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research sponsors the Central Virginia Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) meeting in the McGlothlin Medical Education Center, Rooms 11-101/11-102. Three case studies involving hypothetical research ethics questions will be presented for small group discussions. Following small group discussions, the combined groups will present their case study resolutions.

'Real Life Film Series: Handmaidens and Battleaxes: The Real Story of Nursing'
Thursday, May 18, 2017 from noon to 1 p.m.
Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences and University Student Commons and Activities host a film screening of "Handmaidens and Battleaxes: The Real Story of Nursing" in the Hunton Student Center, TML Learning Center, Room 209. This global picture of nursing, using Australia as a case study, uses rare archival footage, dramatic re-enactments, interviews and photographs from nursing colleges worldwide. Following the screening, engaging discussion will be led by Jodi Koste, archivist.

'Retiring with the VCU Optional Retirement Plan' for Faculty

Final Grading Spring 2017
Grading for spring 2017 has begun. Grade sheets are available on faculty eServices. Grades are due by noon on Tuesday, May 16, at which time grading will be turned off. Faculty may only access grade sheets for courses to which they have been assigned in the Class Schedule. If you do not see one of your grade sheets, contact your department's course scheduling representative.
Campus Connector Summer Service
Beginning on Sunday, May 14, the Campus Connector operates on a reduced schedule for the summer, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday. There will be no weekend or Express service. Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala
The VCU Institute for Women's Health and Highland Support Project spend a week, July 22-29, in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders learning about traditional Maya medicine and exploring the history of healthcare and healing in Guatemala. The group will learn about traditional medicine and midwifery practices. The cost is $985 plus airfare. The application deadline is Saturday, May 20.

Human Resources and Recreational Sports celebrate Employee Health and Fitness Month in May with sessions to help employees incorporate fitness into busy schedules, learn yoga poses to practice at a desk, participate in a group walk (and maybe win a Fitbit Alta courtesy of RamTech), and learn more about Zumba. VCU ASPiRE offers opportunities for faculty and staff to use community service leave this summer with partners like FeedMore and Habitat for Humanity. VCU ASPiRE will do all of the heavy lifting, including transportation, coordinating logistics with the community partner and facilitating a debrief session following the service experience.
