VCU Libraries: Conversation about Health Care Policy, 'For All the People'
Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
VCU Libraries hosts Andrew Barnes, Ph.D., assistant professor of health behavior and policy, School of Medicine, as he leads a question-and-answer session and conversation about health care policy and the history of health care reform in Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, First Floor Special Collections and Archives Reading Room. The talk is tied to the National Library of Medicine exhibit, "For All the People: A Century of Citizen Action in Health Care." Attendees can participate in the discussion and see the exhibit at Tompkins-McCaw Library. Attendees should bring lunch; drinks and desserts will be provided. To register, visit the website below.

VCU Community Health Education Center: 'Hearing Loss in the Health Care Setting'
Thursday, May 25, 2017 from noon to 1 p.m.
The VCU Community Health Education Center hosts "Hearing Loss in the Health Care Setting" featuring Christine Eubanks, Ph.D., director, VCU Hearing Center, at the center, VCU Medical Center, Gateway Building, Ground Floor. Eubanks will present an overview about hearing loss, provide information about prevention and share ideas about how health care providers can better communicate with patients who have hearing loss. Safe Zone Workshop

The Safe Zone Program, sponsored by University Counseling Services, presents a two-hour Safe Zone Workshop in the University Student Commons. The purpose of Safe Zone is to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues and their importance to everyone and to make VCU a more welcoming and inclusive environment. Larrick Center Connector Stop Relocates June 1
Due to upcoming construction for the new School of Allied Health, on June 1, the Larrick Center stop will close temporarily. A new stop will be placed at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, located on Jackson Street between 7th and 8th streets. Campus Connector and I Lot passengers who normally utilize the Larrick Center stop should proceed to the new J. Sargeant Reynolds stop beginning June 1. The Larrick stop is expected to return to its original location following construction.

RamRide Not in Service on Memorial Day
There will be no RamRide service on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29. Service will resume on Tuesday, May 30. A Lot, I Lot, M Lot, and R Lot employees will be permitted to park on the D Deck, 515 N. 13 St., on May 29.

The Division for Inclusive Excellence invites members of the VCU community to advertise diversity-related events on the Division for Inclusive Excellence website. In support of VCU's commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity, the goal is to highlight the many diversity-related programs and events throughout the university and its surrounding community. To include programs or events in the "Mark your calendar" section of the home page, submit an event to the VCU Events Calendar via an eID and password, and include the following RSS keywords: diversity, inclusion, multicultural. The event will be listed on the VCU events calendar and populate to the Division of Inclusive Excellence home page, by date, as well. Events can also be included on our monthly calendar on the events page. Use the google form link found on the events page, www.inclusive.vcu.edu/events. Call for 2017 Freshman Move-in Volunteers
Residential Life and Housing and Student Government Association co-sponsor a move-in competition for student organizations. The student organization who volunteers the most hours within three size categories will be awarded $500. Student organizations can sign up at http://bit.ly/vcuorg by Thursday, June 1. Individual volunteers can sign up using http://bit.ly/vcuvolunteer by Saturday, July 15. Individual volunteers can sign up without being in a student organization.

OCPE Personal and Professional Development Programs
The VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OCPE) presents a variety of face-to-face and online opportunities for personal and professional development for VCU faculty, staff, students and alumni. Noncredit certificate programs include: Corporate Event Planning, Certified Wedding and Event Planning, Signature Wedding and Event Design, and Paralegal Studies. Weekend workshops in play therapy, and an evening workshop series taught by Certified Professional Organizers, are also offered.
