Safe Zone Workshop

The Safe Zone Program, sponsored by University Counseling Services, presents a two-hour Safe Zone Workshop in the University Student Commons. The purpose of Safe Zone is to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues and their importance to everyone and to make VCU a more welcoming and inclusive environment. 'Introduction to Insights: Institutional Information and Data Analytics Platform'
Tuesday, Jun. 6, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Enterprise Analytics and Advanced Research hosts two town hall meetings on both campuses open to VCU employees on Insights. The meetings will be held on Tuesday, June 6, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the University Student Commons Theater; and on Thursday, June 8, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballroom B. Insights is an institutional information and data analytics platform that provides access to actionable information and institutional data for analysis and decision support.

VCU Community Health Education Center: Men's Health Program

The VCU Community Health Education Center hosts a men's health program at the center, VCU Medical Center, Gateway Building, Ground Floor. Stephen Sowulewski, Ph.D., will present "Men's Health Intel" and discuss testicular and prostate health, testosterone (Low T), and proper fueling for fitness. Research Facilities Master Plan Town Halls
Tuesday, Jun. 6, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Office of Research and Innovation is conducting a Research Facilities Master Plan and invites those interested to attend one of two Town Hall meetings - Tuesday, June 6, from 4-5 p.m. in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons I-II; or Wednesday, June 7, from 9-10 a.m. in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Room 104-105.
Safety Fair
Wednesday, Jun. 7, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU Safety and Risk Management holds a safety fair in the VCU Medical Center, Main Hospital, Second Floor Conference Rooms (above the cafeteria). Attendees will learn how to use a fire extinguisher, decrease infections, Black Bin removal, Tru-D, MRI safety and chemical spill kits, and have the opportunity to talk with VCU Police and hospital security.
'How to Treat A Woman: Practical Adolescent Gynecology'
Thursday, Jun. 8, 2017 from noon to 1 p.m.
The Institute for Women's Health hosts "How to Treat a Woman: Strategies for Health Care and Self-Care" brown bag lunch series featuring Nicole Karjane, M.D., associate professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, who will address screening strategies for gynecologic health issues facing adolescents and explore effective options for teen pregnancy prevention in VCU Medical Center, Main Hospital Learning Center. Open to all; no pre-registration is required.

'Understanding the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan'

Human Resources presents an information and question-and-answer session in the HR Training Building, Room 115, for faculty and staff in the Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan. Topics will include contributions, vesting and retirement benefits under the plan. This session is open to VCU employees only, not VCU Health System employees.

Larrick Center Connector Stop Relocates June 1
Due to upcoming construction for the new School of Allied Health, on June 1, the Larrick Center stop will close temporarily. A new stop will be placed at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, located on Jackson Street between 7th and 8th streets. Campus Connector and I Lot passengers who normally utilize the Larrick Center stop should proceed to the new J. Sargeant Reynolds stop beginning June 1. The Larrick stop is expected to return to its original location following construction.

VCU Rec Sports: Outdoor Adventure Camp
VCU Rec Sports offers two week-long sessions of Outdoor Adventure Camp for children ages 11-13. Daily activities include rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and other outdoor-based adventures. The camp will be offered the weeks of June 19-23 and June 26-30. Register online for one or both sessions. Limited scholarships are available.

Mini Ram Camp @ VCU Rec Sports
VCU Recreational Sports offers a summer "Mini Ram Camp" to provide a safe, fun environment for children ages 6-10 of the VCU and surrounding community. Weekly sessions are scheduled between June 19 and Aug. 7. Camp registration is open to children of VCU students and Recreational Sports members.

Now Recruiting for TEENS+ Weight Management Program
Are you concerned about your teen’s weight? We can help! TEENS+ is a 4-month family-based lifestyle intervention at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU for overweight teens ages 12 to 16. The program includes weekly group classes for teens and parents that cover topics such as healthy eating, physical activity and goal-setting. Teens also have access to a gym with personal trainers.
