VCU Rec Sports: OAP Weekend Intermediate Kayaking
Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at 8 a.m.
The Outdoor Adventure Program at VCU Rec Sports hosts a weekend trip of intermediate kayaking from Aug. 5-6. The cost will be $44 for students and $50 for VCU Rec Sports members. Register online or in-person at the Outing Rental Center by Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Research Mentor Training Workshop
Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research sponsors the Research Mentor Training Workshop in BioTech One, Robert Ball Conference Room. Participants will learn mentoring skills, solve mentoring dilemmas and share strategies for success. This is a professional development opportunity for faculty with experience mentoring junior faculty, postdocs, and/or graduate students.

Enhanced Security for VCU Login
VCU is continuing its effort to protect our community from cyber threats that may jeopardize the safety and security of our information. In the continued effort to enhance the security of accounts, the VCU 2Factor Authentication will be extended to major services such as Blackboard, email and VCU Portal in Aug. 2017. This upcoming change will provide faculty and staff members with additional protection for their VCU accounts.

OCPE Personal and Professional Development Programs
The VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OCPE) presents a variety of face-to-face and online opportunities for personal and professional development for VCU faculty, staff, students and alumni. Noncredit certificate programs include: Corporate Event Planning, Certified Wedding and Event Planning, Signature Wedding and Event Design, and Paralegal Studies. Weekend workshops in play therapy, and an evening workshop series taught by Certified Professional Organizers, are also offered.

Call for Abstracts: 'Patients and Practitioners: Partnering for Health'

Technology Updates for Centrally-Supported Classrooms
To ensure the best possible classroom experience, Academic Technologies staff are making changes to centrally-supported classrooms. All computers are being upgraded to Windows 10. Upcoming Changes to A Lot
On Tuesday, Aug. 1, VCU Parking and Transportation will lose a portion of the A Lot, located at 212 N. 18th St. (behind the Exxon gas station). Monday, July 31, will be the last day VCU parking permits will be accepted at this location. In addition, the existing RamRide stop, located between 17th and 18th streets on East Grace St., will be discontinued after 8 p.m. on Monday, July 31.

2017-2018 Graduate School Mentorship Program Announcement and Call for Applications
The Graduate School announces a call for applications to the 2017-2018 Graduate School Mentorship Program (GSMP). The GSMP matches undergraduate and graduate students in mentoring relationships in order to expose undergraduate students to the graduate experience as they consider further study and to provide graduate students with the opportunity to develop mentoring skills as they share their own personal experiences with the undergraduate students in the program. Students are matched based on areas of academic discipline and/or interest. Students interested in being matched with a specific student must both indicate this preference on their applications. Graduate Student Mentor Applicants: In order to qualify, graduate students must be at least second-year and be in good academic standing. Interested graduate students should access the application via the GSMP website: http://www.graduate.vcu.edu/development/mentorship.html Undergraduate Student Mentee Applicants: Preference is given to applicants going into their sophomore, junior or senior years. Undergraduates are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 throughout the duration of the program.
