The Offices of Donor Relations, Communications and Annual Giving coordinate a "Thank a Donor Day" on the compass outside of Larrick Student Center. Academic Integrity Awareness Week: 'Writing with Integrity'
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Student Conduct and Academic Integrity partners with VCU Libraries for "Writing with Integrity" in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. This session will help students to avoid plagiarism through better understanding of paraphrasing, attribution and citations. Lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

'Great SEXpectations'
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Wellness Resource Center presents "Great SEXpectations" in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salon III. This fun and informative play-shop from sex educators will help remove sexual stigmas and taboos, offering practical communication tools and a safe, supportive environment within which to practice them. Attendees can bring partner(s).
African American Studies: Pop-Up Art Show
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Department of African American Studies hosts a pop-up art show on the first floor of Harrison House through Thursday, Oct. 26. The show exhibits student artwork, primarily by African American Studies students and members of Black Art Student Empowerment. Harrison House is open to visitors during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

'Wednesdays in the Workshop: Intro to Computerized Embroidery'

VCU Libraries hosts "Wednesdays in the Workshop," an open house designed to help attendees explore new equipment, techniques, softwares or experiences every Wednesday at Cabell Library. This week's topic will computerized embroidery.

Bangladeshi Student Organization First General Body Meeting

The Bangladeshi Student Organization at VCU holds its first general body meeting of the semester in the University Student Commons, Forum Room, for students to meet the executive board and learn more about the organization and its upcoming plans for the year. Snacks and entertainment will be provided.
Attorney General Mark Herring Visits VCU
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at 7 p.m.
Young Democrats at VCU hosts a visit from Mark Herring, attorney general of Virginia, in West Grace Street Student Housing-North, Fireplace Lounge. Herring, who is running for re-election, will discuss his platform and answer pressing questions about today's political climate.
Film Screening: 'Sleepless In America'
Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 from 12:10 p.m. to 1 p.m.
VCU Libraries and University Student Commons and Activities invite the VCU community to a film screening and discussion of "Sleepless in America" in the Hunton Student Center, TML Learning Center, Room 209. The film is a documentary exposing the crucial need for sleep and the shocking life-threatening consequences of its absence. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch. Following the film screening, a discussion will be facilitated by Cecelia Valrie, Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Psychology.

Fall Jazz Festival
Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at 8 p.m.
The Department of Music presents the VCU Fall Jazz Festival in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. This popular annual event features the Jazz Orchestra I, Jazz Orchestra II and VCU Jazz faculty. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door. Free for students with VCU ID.

National Conflict Resolution Day 2017

The Office of the Ombudsperson presents a National Conflict Resolution Day (NCRD) 2017 event in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballroom A. NCRD is a global event intended to promote the concept of peaceful conflict resolution. This year’s event features keynote speaker Wayne Blair, university ombuds for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, in addition to a hands-on workshop. The event is free and open to the public; registrants are asked to RSVP as breakfast will be served.
