Earth Week 2018: An Inconvenient Truth
5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Green Unity hosts a mixer on the green roof of the Pollak Building, followed by a screening of "An Inconvenient Truth" in Pollak, Room 321. This is the kickoff event for VCU Earth Week 2018.
Free DIY Self-Care Workshop
5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Amnesty International @ VCU and the Black Minds Matter Project host a free self-care event at The Depot, 814 W. Broad St. Learn tips to de-stress before finals. Activities will include DIY self-care stations, a photo booth, free food and presentations from local organizations like NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and Virginia Anti-Violence Project.
'Pack your Prayers & Patience: Preparing for Early Recovery'
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Rams in Recovery invites the VCU community to hear from Bill Maher, recovery coach, family case manager, SUDs counselor and interventionist, at VCU's Motivate Clinic, first floor conference room, Jackson Building, 501 N. 2nd St. Maher will share his insight on supporting loved ones through this crucial time on their path to recovery from alcohol and/or substance use disorder. For example, what is “early recovery”? What are some of the things to expect? How can you best support your loved one through these days and months to increase the chances of maintaining sobriety and sustaining a healthy recovery?
'Take Back The Night'
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Wellness Resource Center and SAVES present "Take Back the Night" in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons. This empowering event focuses on giving survivors an opportunity to speak out about the violence committed against them. In addition, it provides call to action for survivors and allies to take back the night from perpetrators. Dinner will be provided.
VCU Percussion Ensemble: "Collaborations"
8 p.m.
VCU Music's Percussion Ensemble presents their spring 2018 concert, "Collaborations," in the W.E. Singleton Center's Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. The VCU Percussion Ensemble will perform with members of the VCU Craft and Material Studies Department and VCU Dance Departments, working collaboratively on cross-disciplinary music. Free admission.

The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Tompkins-McCaw Library present their next lunch research seminar “The IRB: Regs, Ethics, and Challenges” with Drs. Monika Markowitz, director, Office of Research Integrity and Ethics,&Ron Evans, VCU IRB chair, in the Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 2-010. They will discuss different types of regulatory review required for human subjects’ research and ways to make the IRB process go more smoothly. Participants may bring lunch; drinks will be provided.

Group Ride and 'PROPULSION' Film Screening

RamBikes will be hosting a group ride and film screening. The group ride will meet at RamBikes, 201 N Belvidere, at 5:30 p.m. and depart at 6 p.m. The ride will finish at the Outdoor Rental Center, 130 S Linden St., where a collection of bicycle-centric short film screenings entitled "PROPULSION" will be screened at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend the ride, screening or both.

'Supply the Y’ VCU Police Supply Drive for YWCA Richmond

As part of sexual assault awareness month, VCU Police is helping the Richmond YWCA stock up for the summer during "Supply the Y" in front of Wal-Mart on Campus, 912 W. Grace St. Officers will be collecting supplies, and will accept new (or gently used) items to help local women, children and families including: twin and full-size sheets, new blankets, towels, washcloths, art supplies, hand soap, laundry detergent, house-cleaning supplies, diapers and baby toiletries. The Asian Pacific Student Alliance and The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs take a look at the long history of Asian Americans and its role in shaping US identity during an event in the University Student Commons, Room 215. Through dialogue we will explore the broad range of cultural variation, differences which shape the unique experiences.

The event brings 208 elementary schools to VCU for a day of celebrating their tennis skills in a team-centered environment. The event involves a mixed doubles tennis tournament along with various educational and healthy lifestyle activity stations. The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a Backpacking Weekend April 28-29. The cost for this trip will be $44 for students and $50 for staff/faculty members. 'How to create a research poster'
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program will host a poster workshop session April 16 at 2 p.m. in Hibbs Hall, Room 327. The workshop will cover some of the technical aspects of poster creation from design to printing and will prepare undergrads to present their work at the Poster Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creativity taking place on campus April 25, 2018.
