'Tech Tuesday: 3D Scan Your World'

The VCU Libraries Innovative Media department invites the VCU community to "Tech Tuesdays" in Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, Lecture Room 2-010. Attendees will learn the best ways to scan their dog, baby, chainsaw, shower rod or ancient artifact with hands-on demonstrations of library technology resources, services and workspaces.

Making the Most of Your Gap Year: Panel Discussion
5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
VCU Career Services is hosting a panel discussion, "Making the Most of Your Gap Year," in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. Participants will discuss scribe programs, the Peace Corps, Fulbright programs and more opportunities to try before entering healthcare graduate and professional programs.
Group Ride and 'PROPULSION' Film Screening
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
RamBikes will be hosting a group ride and film screening. The group ride will meet at RamBikes, 201 N Belvidere, at 5:30 p.m. and depart at 6 p.m. The ride will finish at the Outdoor Rental Center, 130 S Linden St., where a collection of bicycle-centric short film screenings entitled "PROPULSION" will be screened at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend the ride, screening or both.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble and University Band

ICA Grand Opening and Block Party

The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU opens to the public on April 21 with a site-wide exhibition, "Declaration," and a day-long Block Party showcasing Richmond’s curious-minded culture. Block Party will offer interactive activities, food and live music and performances emceed by Kelli Lemon with DJ Lonnie B. Held outdoors on the Markel Center grounds, Block Party is free and open to the public. This is a rain or shine event.

CORRECTION: The Wellness Resource Center is partnering with the YWCA of Richmond, VCU Health's Project Empower, VCU Police Department, VCU Equity and Access Services: Title IX, VCU SGA, and Students Advocating Violence Education and Support (SAVES) to put on VCU's Seventh Annual Fear 2 Freedom event in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballrooms. Participants will assemble care kits for survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. Free dinner provided.

Caps, Gowns and Hoods for May Commencement
May Commencement exercises take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Richmond Coliseum, 601 E. Leigh St. Students participating in the ceremony must wear caps, gowns and hoods. Academic regalia is available for purchase at the Barnes & Noble @ VCU on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. If you are unable to visit your campus bookstore, you can purchase your regalia online through Tuesday, April 30, at http://www.balfour.com/vcu/. Caps and gowns will not be available for purchase at the Commencement ceremony.

Only two weeks to complete the Diverse Learning Environments Survey and enter to win prizes
All VCU students are encouraged to take the Diverse Learning Environments Campus Climate Survey, which runs now through April 27. Results will inform the VCU’s plans related to campus diversity initiatives. Students who participate could win one of two grand prizes for a free semester of on-campus parking or one of 100, $10 Starbucks gift cards. VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program Journey on the James
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program hosts Junior Journey on the James, an overnight camp for middle school age students, ages 10-13, that will follow a portion of the VCU course Footprints on the James. Students will learn about the James River ecology and cultural history, and get to explore tidal creeks along the way. Two sessions will be held, July 9-13 and July 23-27.

National Collegiate Dodgeball Association Championships hosted by VCU Dodgeball Club
The VCU Dodgeball Club will host the National Collegiate Dodgeball Association Tournament at the Siegel Center April 21-22. University dodgeball clubs from all over the country are expected to participate.
