Final 2018 Dogs on Call Calendar Sales Date
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Center for Human-Animal Interaction holds its final 2018 Dogs on Call calendar sales on the MCV Campus in the Main Hospital Learning Center. Attendees can meet the Dogs on Call therapy dogs and show support by purchasing a 2018 Dogs on Call calendar for $10. All proceeds support the Dogs on Call and The Center for Human-Animal Interaction and will help therapy dogs continue to spread joy to patients, students and staff. This is the last sales date. Calendars can also be purchased at Virginia Book Company.

United2Heal: January Super Warehouse
3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
United2Heal holds its first super warehouse of the year and is seeking volunteers to help sort medical supplies to ship to communities in need at its warehouse, 2601 Maury St., Unit 31. Free food will be available and rides provided in front of the University Student Commons loop beginning at 3 p.m.
Non-Academic Postdocs and Fellowships: Panel Discussion
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
VCU Career Services and the Center on Heath Disparities Research Training present a non-academic postdocs and fellowships panel discussion at Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 2-010. Attendees will listen to industry professionals including Allyson Kennedy, National Science Foundation; Kimberly Mayes, Eli Lilly; Julie Zinnert, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; David Kane, Altria Group; and the VCU National Scholarship Office, discuss the non-academic opportunities for postdocs to do great work outside academia.
Graduate School Interview Practice
3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
VCU Career Services and the Center on Health Disparities Research Training holds graduate school interview practice for science students in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons III-IV. Attendees can practice engaging with faculty and answering questions about research and career interests in a professional manner. Professional dress is not required, but strongly encouraged. Recommended for pre-graduate students who are applying for fall 2018 or fall 2019 admissions. Registration is required by visiting the website below.

SAVES Training: Part One
5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Students Advocating Violence Education and Support (SAVES) holds part one of two trainings for those interested in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room. Participants who attend both trainings will become a tier two, fully-trained member of SAVES. Trained members will be able to engage in all aspects of SAVES volunteer work including community education through public presentations. SAVES is a peer education group on campus speaking and raising awareness on the topics of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking.

Chili’s at VCU Hosts Official Men’s Basketball Away Game Watch Party
Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at 2 p.m.
Chili's at VCU hosts the official Men's Basketball watch party as they take on George Mason University. Fans can catch the HAVOC live on each of Chilis' nine TVs and take advantage of specials including the $5 game-day burger. Attendees are encouraged to wear VCU gear for free giveaways and prizes. Rennolds Series Concert: Leon Fleisher and Katherine Jacobson

VCU Music presents a performance by Leon Fleisher and Katherine Jacobson in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, as part of the Mary Anne Rennolds Chamber Concert Series. Duo performances of legendary pianist and conductor Leon Fleisher with internationally renowned pianist Katherine Jacobson have received accolades from music’s most respected critics. Tickets are $35 for general admission; $32 for seniors (60+), VCU employees and VCU Alumni Association members; and $25 for children 16 and under.

Free Documentary Screening: 'Green Fire'

VCU Black History Month Kickoff

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Black Student Union, hosts the annual Black History Month kickoff event in the University Student Commons, Virginia Room B. This event will feature student performances from VCU's Black Awakening Choir, the African Student Union and organizations in the NPHC. The featured keynote speaker for Black History Month will be Shawn Utsey, Ph.D.

Women in Science at VCU: Winter Clothing Drive
Women in Science at VCU hosts its winter clothing drive from Jan. 22 through Feb. 2. Donations of new or lightly-used winter clothing, such as coats, hats, gloves/mittens and scarves are appreciated. Donations will go to Homeward/United Way serving the Greater Richmond and Petersburg area. Donation boxes can be found in Sanger Hall, Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Lyons Dental Building and the Wood Memorial Building.
