Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU Massey Cancer Center hosts an Integrative Health Resource Fair at VCU Medical Center, North Hospital Lobby. This event is for attendees to learn more about Massey's Integrative Health program and the health, wellness and supportive care resources available to patients and caregivers. In addition to experts representing a variety of resources, there will also be door prizes and healthy food samples.

Division for Inclusive Excellence: 2017 Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium

The Division for Inclusive Excellence invites the VCU community to attend its 2017 Equity and Inclusion Leadership Symposium at the Academic Learning Commons. The symposium connects VCU's commitment to diversity with significant, material action. The breakout presentations will involve VCU's already active and compassionate community. Ram Spirit Walk

VCU Alumni invites students, student organizations, alumni and community members to the annual Ram Spirit Walk. In a Welcome Week tradition, the new incoming class and The Peppas spirit band will march from convocation to a block party on Floyd Ave. Line up along Harrison St., Park Ave. or Linden St. to cheer incoming students as they parade from the Siegel Center. Wear spirit gear and make banners to welcome the Class of 2021.

Introducing The Office of Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity (formerly Disability Support Services)
As of Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) will be transitioning into Student Accessibility and Education Opportunity (SAEO). SAEO will be rolling out a new and entirely digital methods to request, schedule and submit tests proctored by the office and is offering a broader range of services for students and increased opportunities for faculty trainings, workshops, consultations and general support.

Education Abroad Faculty Information Sessions
The Education Abroad office hosts mandatory information sessions for faculty proposing study abroad programs in the 2017-18 academic year. Dorris Douglas Budd Award: Call for Nominations
Nominations are accepted through Friday, Aug. 25, for the 2017 Dorris Douglas Budd Award, which recognizes outstanding administrative and office support staff who enhance the image and mission of VCU and VCU Health. Eligibility criteria include minimum employment of five years, as of Sept. 30, 2017, in a secretarial/clerical support position at the health system (up to salary grade nine) or the university (up to pay band four). Cary Street Gym Facility Closure: Aug. 17-18
All VCU Recreational Sports facilities, except the MCV Campus Recreation Center, will be closed on Thursday, Aug. 17, and Friday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for staff training.
Technology Updates in Centrally-Supported Classrooms
To ensure the best possible classroom experience, Academic Technologies staff have been making changes to centrally-supported classrooms throughout the summer. Work is still in progress to upgrade all computers to Windows 10 before fall classes begin. The Commonwealth Society: Registration Open
The Commonwealth Society, VCUarts' educational organization for adult learners, opened registration for its fall semester on Thursday, Aug. 10. The Commonwealth Society connects community learners to the resources of VCU and the robust Richmond arts scene through classes and other programming.

OCPE Personal and Professional Development Programs
The VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OCPE) presents a variety of face-to-face and online opportunities for personal and professional development for VCU faculty, staff, students and alumni. Noncredit certificate programs include: Corporate Event Planning, Certified Wedding and Event Planning, Signature Wedding and Event Design, and Paralegal Studies. Weekend workshops in play therapy, and an evening workshop series taught by Certified Professional Organizers, are also offered.
