'LA 92' Documentary Screening
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs presents a free screening of the National Geographic documentary "LA 92" in the University Student Commons Theater. Twenty-five years after the verdict in the Rodney King trial sparked several days of protests, violence and looting in Los Angeles, "LA 92" immerses viewers in that tumultuous period through stunning and rarely seen archival footage. Produced by two-time Oscar-winners Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin, the film looks at the events of 1992 from a multitude of vantage points.

Location Correction: VCU BEST: 'Dealing with Stress in the Lab'

VCU BEST holds a workshop featuring William King, ombudsman, presenting strategies for dealing with stress in the lab in the McGlothlin Medical Education Center, Room 11-101/102 (this is a location update). All are welcome. No registration required. This program is part of the VCU BEST workshop series. VCU BEST (Broadening Experiences for Scientific Training) seeks to transform the culture of scientific training at VCU by providing career and professional development to complement academic training.

VCU Massey Cancer Center hosts Bosom Buddies Support Group in the conference room to the right of the cafeteria at Hanover Medical Park, Regional Medical Center, 8222 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville. This is a free support group open to all breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
Research Facilities Master Plan Town Hall Meetings
Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 at 10 a.m.
VCU is about to launch a new university Master Site Plan, which will guide university development for the next decade. Part of this process involves an evaluation of research space. The Office of Research and Innovation presents the draft Research Facilities Master Plan and invites those interested to attend one of two town hall meetings on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon in the T. Edward Temple Building, Room 1160; or from 3-5 p.m. in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building.
'Rec Sports Night'
Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
VCU Rec Sports holds "Rec Sports Night" at the Cary Street Gym. Attendees will learn about the various programs Rec Sports offers while trying activities and games, including fitness demonstrations, sport club showcases and rock climbing. There will be free food, as well as prizes and giveaways.

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education offers a variety of noncredit online courses and certificates in partnership with The Learning Resources Network (LERN), in areas such as customer service, Google tools and 21st century skills. Those interested can participate any time of day or evening.

Undergraduate Library Advisers: Applications Accepted until Aug. 31
The Cabell Library Undergraduate Advisory Committee (CLUAC) accepts applications from undergraduates for the 2017-18 term. The committee promotes the value of Cabell Library in the academic and social life of undergraduates and advises VCU Libraries in service design, programs and student priorities. Healthy Women Invited for Research Study
If you are female and are between the ages of 40 to 62 and consider yourself healthy and do not have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia or any other rheumatologic condition, you may be eligible to participate in a research study to evaluate relationships among metabolism and symptoms in women with and without fibromyalgia. At a one-time study visit, participants will be asked to complete sets of questionnaires and have one small tube of blood drawn. Participants will be compensated.
