VCU to Conduct Test of Emergency Communications
VCU will conduct a full test of its emergency communication system, including 10 sirens throughout the Monroe Park and MCV campuses, at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The full test will include the sirens along with text messages, Alertus boxes, mass email, digital signs, social media and VCU website information - all part of a multichannel system for communicating emergency information to VCU students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community.

Bone Marrow Drive
Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2017 from noon to 4 p.m.
Be the Match on Campus and Sisters and Stethoscopes hold a bone marrow drive in the Honors College Multipurpose Room. The registry process takes less than 15 minutes. Donors will swab each corner of their cheek and fill out a form that ensures suitability as a bone marrow registrant.
QPR / Suicide Prevention Training
Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
University Counseling Services holds a QPR/Suicide Prevention Training in the University Student Commons Theater. Participants will learn how to question someone about potential suicidal thoughts; persuade them to seek help; and refer them for professional help.

'Healthy Living for Cancer Survivors: Fitness'
Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
VCU Massey Cancer Center invites the cancer community to "Healthy Living for Cancer Survivors," a series of free weekly workshops held each Wednesday in Sept. at 5:30 p.m. in the first floor conference room at Stony Point 9000, 9000 Stony Point Parkway. The first session is about the health benefits of physical activity.
VCU Southern Film Festival: 'Gender Revolution' with Special Guest, Gavin Grimm
Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2017 at 6 p.m.
VCU's Southern Film Festival in partnership with the Humanities Research Center holds a screening of the documentary "Gender Revolution," followed by a conversation with special guests Gavin Grimm and Bill Farrar, in Cabell Library, Third Floor Lecture Hall. The screening will be moderated by Bethany Coston. A reception will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the film at 6:30 p.m. Free, but registration is requested.

Campus Scheduling Services hosts a "How-To Virtual EMS and Space Reservation" workshop for departments and student organizations in Hibbs Hall, Room 403. Attendees will learn how and when to book space on campus and the rules for reserving academic, outdoor and other spaces. Participants are encouraged to bring questions, event planners, schedulers and fellow organization board members to learn how to host a successful event, conference or meeting on campus.
