VCU Music Percussion Ensemble

The Department of Music's Percussion Ensemble presents its fall concert in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, featuring special guest Blake Tyson, professor of percussion, University of Central Arkansas. This concert will feature the premiere of Tyson's new work, "The Surface of the Sky," written in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of de-segregation of Little Rock High School. Admission is free.

The Fall Block Step Show Committee and the National Panhellenic Council at VCU host "Meet the Greeks" in the University Student Commons Theater. VCUDine hands out special treats and Pepsi products on Halloween starting at 11 a.m. in front of Shafer Court Dining Center. Also, Halloween-themed foods will be available in Market 810 all day. VCU Qatar Meet and Greet Majilis at MCV Campus
Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m.
The School of the Arts hosts a mix and mingle with students from its campus in Doha, Qatar, who are visiting the Richmond campus for one week as part of the VCU Qatar Leadership Exchange Program. The majlis will be set up on 12th St. between Broad and Marshall streets. A majlis is considered a space to receive visitors and offer them hospitality. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Qatari culture, complete with the offerings of karak (tea), baklava and other traditional Qatari foods.
National Scholarship Office General Information Session

The National Scholarship Office holds an information session in the Honors College Multipurpose Room for attendees to learn more about how to apply for a variety of nationally competitive scholarships. Those interested in broadening their college experience by learning another language or pursuing funded research are encouraged to attend.
Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming [TGNC] Support Group

The Well offers a transgender and gender non-conforming support group every Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. throughout the fall semester. This group is for all students who identify within the transgender/non-binary spectrum and/or questioning their gender. Registration is required by emailing the email address below.
Film Screening: 'La Santa Muerte: A Folk Saint in Texas'

The School of World Studies and the Bishop Walter F. Sullivan Chair in Catholic Studies presents a film screening of "La Santa Muerte: A Folk Saint in Texas" in the Temple Building, Room 1164. Producer Charlie Lockwood and VCU professor Andrew Chestnut will hold a question-and-answer session after the film. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Laurel St. The lunch will feature Amanda Kennedy from St. Andrew's, an independent school in Oregon Hill supporting low-income families in Richmond. RamRide: Express Route Discontinues Service Oct. 31
To accommodate the growing RamRide ridership and improve route efficiency, the Campus Connector Express route will be discontinued at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The former Express bus will be incorporated back into the Campus Connector route, for a total of five buses servicing passengers during the weekday business hours, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 1. VCU Rec Sports OAP: Rock Climbing Weekend
VCU Rec Sports OAP offers a climbing weekend from Nov. 4-5, in one of the most famous climbing areas in North America. Participants will enjoy a beautiful weekend climbing, away from the city. OAP leaders will teach participants basic climbing techniques, equipment usage and belaying techniques in a safe and trusting environment. Deadline Extended: Great American Indian Exposition (Pow-Wow)
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs sponsors a fall cultural excursion to the Great American Indian Exposition, also known as the Richmond Pow-Wow, on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond International Raceway Complex, 600 E. Laburnum Ave. The pow-wow features the best in Native American arts, crafts, food, dance, drumming and education. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Nov. 1. Transportation will be provided and admission is covered.
Breast Cancer Survivor Study Invitation
Many breast cancer survivors have difficulty taking their hormonal medication as recommended and we would like to find out why. If you are a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed at least 2 years ago, you stopped taking your hormonal medication before the 5 year end date, and English is your first language, we would like to invite you to be a participant in a 1.5 hour focus group. Compensation will be offered. VCU IRB Approval No. HM20009228.
